Fair call my friend, but the Bowdens are noted for being pedantic in discovering every detail possible, & verifying previous owners /maintainers of their impressive car collection. What price they sell the car for is their business, however in my opinion (pedantic or not?) to command top dollar for the car, I would ensure the add for the car , was as accurate as possible. Believe me, if the Bowdens wanted the add changed they could afford it.

fair enough, but then again.... you wont be buying one for a fair while

at the end of the day, the bowdens own the cars, they are not being forced to sell them, and without any pressure to sell, they can ask whatever they damn well want for the cars

a car isnt worth anything more than what someone is willing to pay for it, so if someone wants to pony up the $87k for EL GT P01, they drive away smiling, and the rest of you knockers can just sit there and scoff....

dont like the price someone asks? shut up and keep walking, dont talk them down with stupid offers

I would suggest at that price, they don't really want to sell but are merely testing the water to give them a good idea of the market. No one will pay either price for those 2 vehicles. In my opinion they are about 20-30% over priced. Good luck to them though either way.

It doesn't. All High grade EL's had the clear indicator type tail lights the same as the EF's.

Engines are subject to extra QC?

HSV would never do such a thing!

Press cars a definately different to production cars. I own EB GT P02 which was driven by Kevin Bartlett from Melbourne to Sydney and written up in Wheels magazine (Sept 1993 I think). I have owned this since March 1994 when it was sold off by Ford. To say this engine was tweaked is an understatement. It revs the tacho right off the dial and has very long legs. It went so well that in 1997 when I bought my EL GT I complained to the dealer about the lack of power in the EL as both cars were suposed to have the same Kw rating and both were manuals. We eventually found out how much more powerful the EB was. Forty-five Kw. It's a good way to get decent press reports.
Cheers
Keith

why is it interesting. most if not all manufacturers ensure that press cars are "checked" thoroughly prior to the press getting their hands on them

great thread, not sure its a good thing to here the Bowdens' losing some of their collection but i guess they have their reasons and you'd hope they'd get looked after at their new home. Keep the links coming if they decide to sell more...an interesting read at the least, wish i had spare 100K or two.

no Ford or Holden wouldnt have press cars that go harder ,do better 1/4 mile times and are more refined that the cars you and i can buy,That would be down right un australian
