The current van is rated to carry 3 prisoners on the back and has seat belts fitted etc. I am not sure load rating, but should be able to find out. Point of interest I once weighed an AU div van with myself and another member and gross weight was 2360kgs! And no I do not weight 360kgs.

I am not sure on the new van. I would think that they have to be rated etc. I wonder how they would go in testing especially in relation to a possible accident.

The old VS van was over GVM with two coppers, a tank of petrol and a crook... and it felt it. Obviously with a few choice items left out ( full tank, equipment and a crook ) and a couple of lightweight officers they were under GVM. A coupe of times I had my life flash before my eyes because of those things ... shame it was a boring show !

Hmm that's odd as i was looking at his speedo from the back and letting him know that he shouldn't be doing 80 in a 60, i could see it clearly and don't recall there being a gap unless the rear actually goes into the extra 2 door space?

If WA is anything to go by, the reason for using the Holden ute over the Falcon is simple.

Over here, the boys driving the Holden sedans hated the fact that the BA/BF utes were able to keep up. (when in a chase or Priority call)

Of course, they were very quick to point out that it never happened....

Not if you're over 16 .... As per the law here in Victoria. However, I am sure they'd probably be more under-16 year olds in the back then over!
