Yeah block and internals look ok, i think i might have got away with the heads too. (shave and should be good) But i have definitely fried piston rings. Stayed up all night last night pulling it apart. Don't really want to do anymore, because i'm unsure where to sort of go from here.

Should i just pull the entire engine out, and send it away to autotech or something? or take it to a local grease monkey for a freshen up, (new rings, gaskets etc) or what the hell do i do..... I'm so dissapointed right now lol

There is a local engine builder here that can help you out... he's a good friend of mine and will look after you and do your spanner work.

Well over the last couple of days i have noticed a pool of oil forming under the car. It must have been bloody hot, because it appears to have cooked the oil filter sealing ring. Other than that, not a whole lot to report.

Gotta play the waiting and saving game now.

So i'm starting to lean towards just selling it or trading it. A nice BA-BF F6 Typhoon I think

Don't do that, maybe find a second hand engine to go in.

You'll lose too much cash selling a broken car.

I don;t think a dealer would even pick it. Starts and runs fines, no noticable loss of power. No leaks, other than the oilfilter and drop out of the rear main. Doesnt appear to be losing coolant, but not 100% sure on that.

So if i fixed a few things, I may be able to trade it... I really don't know what I want to do, but either way I can't justify spending 10-15k building a engine that will still get beaten by a stock f6 lol

10-15k rebuild and you wouldn't get done by a stock F6, trust me.

A 220kw engine with decent k's can be had for $2800 from intake to exhaust.

Well if a dealer can't pick it, do it. Sounds like the car to you now is a liability not an asset, so if i were you i'd move on from my problems.

I'll keep pulling it apart, till I work out exactly what needs to be done.

If it is still in reasonably good nic (mechanically) I'll replace the rings, gaskets, seals etc - effectively refresh it instead of rebuilding and then sell or trade it I think

That also sounds like a very viablse option. That sounds cheaper than re-freshening my existing would it not?

It would have to cost at least $2000 to buy all new gaskets, head bolts and machining. Then labour to reassemble...

So this may be cheaper?

Where have u seen an engine for $2800?

How much does everyone think, it would cost to re-condition the engine?

New headgaskets, machine heads, replace piston rings, new head bolts etc, whatever is required in this case? + Labour?

$4000 or so??

Sounds about right, try to do as much of the spanner work as you can though if you are confident enough.

yeah but everyone else was only offering 6000- to 7000, so i'm alot happier with 10.

For 6 - 7k, i'd keep it

Sorry mate... Part of the reason he offered me another 3000 - 4000 was for the presentation of the car. He originally offered 6 to 7 thousand. But when he seen the photo's and mod list, he straight away upped it to 10k, without even seeing the car.

He is willing to give 11k if its in as good condition as it looks in the photos.

I asked him if I removed some stuff etc, but he wants it like it is or he'll give me less.

He's got photos of all the gear, and a list. Polished manifold, Silicone hoses, scuff plates, steering wheel, shifter the whole lot.

Sorry man, but its not worth losing so much money taking it all off.... I did try though :-(

I feel bad now lol.

So for all the B-series freaks lol, how does this one look? I obviously like it, or I wouldn't have paid the deposit already. But what does everyone think, (except for my v8 friends lol - enough flaming already hehehe)

I'm glad you've got a deal that you're pleased with.

It's sad to be losing another AUvian, but eventually most of us will move to a newer model sooner or later. Some of us will be able to keep their AU and get another, but for most of us, finances won't really allow that.

All the best with it, I hope your finances come through.
