I haven't done that many ks in my s2 xr6( 228,xxx), however ive beat the the crap out of it as the family taxi in melbourne burbs, and dragged a heavy old van around interstate, and on many occasions driven it very hard, unopened engine and auto and diff at 13 years of age, same suspension it left the factory other than koni's and upper rear shocker mounts at 160km, although I think it might needs new inner tie rods and a steering coupling in a year or so.
Minor service wear and tear items that you expect aside, its been a great car and very cheap as a long term owner, still feels like it will go for another 10 years even though it will no doubt need some freshening up down the track.
Not without a few flaws like any car but I would have another in a heart beat.

I've owned an EL for ten years, was the family car now my work car and has just done 220,000 ks. For the last 100 thousand kms its towed a 600kg plus tradie trailer the only issues being leaking power steering unit which in turn kills the alternator.

Had a EA wagon on straight gas 760,000 km's was on 2nd auto, 2nd head but short motor was not touched. A mates brother bought it and now it does regular Sydney-Adelaide runs.
Worst part was badly worn door strikers.

465,000, but has not been a good car! Auto transmission no.4, engine rebuilt at 190,000 and pretty much everything else has been replaced apart from different, body, dash and interior trim...but I love it.

Yep - makes you wonder why sometimes! The times I've said "That's it - you're going!!!" Go inside, make a cup of coffee - take another look at it and change my mind again.

I so want to install a sunroof and re-spray mine but I'm a bit hesitant in case something happened to it and it got written off!!!

Exactly mate, mine looks good for factory paint and it's the rare Bordeaux colour, but it ain't worth sinking too much money into a $3000 car (if I'm lucky).

But my alternator, starter, dizzy, P/S pump, break booster/cyl all went well into the 400's from new. My LSD is still going fine, no chatter at all which seems like a miracle. But I tell you, I drive this thing very smoothly and can't get much more than 120k from a BTR auto even with two coolers. Interior wise full leather seats average, driver's totally stuffed, only replaced the climate controller as far as electronics go but all four window actuators have been changed at some point. And that bloody central locking...

Mike

Hulk, time for a serious question. What is your obsession with the number of km's a car has done?

I have lost count of the number of threads you have started on this topic over the years and it's getting a but much.

The alternator brushes last about 300-350,000kms in my experience.
Diodes fail randomly at different km's though.

The boosters seem random too.

The BTR auto's depend on what sort of driving the car has seen.
BUT, in my experience - expect about 250,000km from an auto which has seen towing/load carrying most of it's life.
Expect about 350,000+km from an auto that has been well looked after, and not flogged.
Outside of that, and something else is not right - faulty solenoids, or something causing excess slippage/clutch burnout.

The e-series central locking dance........... Lol.
The worst part is trying to find the faulty actuator.
