The Mercedes 'A' class failed the Moose/Elk test a few years ago, so they (Mercedes) fixed the problem and sent it back for retesting.

The thing is the average Joe doesn't care at all about how much his car weighs, if he can fit people or luggage in his car in one trip instead of 2 then he probably will. I don't know anyone who has ever given a rat's **** about only taking 3 passengers or no luggage because its a bit heavier than it apparently should be according to some scientist in the other side of the world

dunno if its right or not but XR8`s seem to be a listed as a little lighter than a similar equipped model in 6 cyl version, by 20 or 30 kg from memory, may be grand pas axe is a bit on the weighty side . |

realistically, look at an touring ute set up for holidays, tradie utes etc there all mostly overloaded, just the kind of thing everyone seems to turn a blind eye to, and smash the truck drivers instead

My G6ET was 1930kg's even on the dump scales with me in it and ~20 liters of used oil. The same load in my 65 mustang was 1200kg's on the nose.

That's an example of why people drop modern engines into old cars and do nothing more to modify the engine...why bother? The weight saving along would be worth a huge amount of horsepower.

That being said, a 69 Mustang would be a fair bit heavier than a 65.

Additional weight will increase your tyre's rolling resistance.
So spending that extra money on tyres for a modern car that was made post-1993 is probably pointless This thread makes me even happier about owning an old rust bucket.

Are you saying Ford should hire no engineers? Millions of engineering costs in making a new model, and seeing as that cost is passed down to us I'd expect them to do their job!

what does that mean? just because I can physically fill every nook and cranny of my boot with bricks, does that mean I should be able to do so and still be within the weight limits? of course not. It's my responsibility as a driver to load the car safely and within manufacturer limits.
