Reminds me of my mate in high school who always bragged about how quick his Dad's VN v6 was and how it would rip 0-100 in 6 seconds flat back in 1999. One day saw his dad picked him up from school in a red Toyota Lexcen with faded paint..

Gotta ask, why do you care? Just let him enjoy his car, sounds to me like he's just baiting you.
Sometimes the easier thing to do is say "yeah mate your car is pretty sweet, it has a nice sound and looks the goods", then just walk away, you don't even need him to reciprocate, be the bigger person.

Well I gotta say if that's the thing that frustrates you in life you're doing pretty well man
I think once upon a time I viewed things as you do, I learnt pretty quickly the most important thing (especially with cars) is does your car make you happy? If the answer is yes then it never matters what anyone else says. Tastes vary so wildly with vehicles that everyone will find something different they love. One thing that I always find amusing is I have mates who think my piece of crap 10k Pajero is my best car. I like it, but it's no where near my best car in my eyes.

Seeing him start his car today and leave work made me think i am just gonna leave it alone. He loves his car, and i don't think he has much else. Beating him wouldn't make me feel any better, in fact, i think i would feel worse. Thanks all for the help, I am gonna be the bigger man and leave it alone.
Cheers |

Use google. Print the spec sheets of each and put them on his desk. And perhaps let him know that the V8 rumble is still music to your ears, even if it is coming from behind you.... |

Just let sleeping dogs lie.. different but the same in a sense is the clash I have with my father in law (71). He was adiment that they don't make them like they used to and had 2 60's model victa 2 stroke mowers. Usually he would spend the best part of an hour trying to start one, kick it, then spent an hour trying to start the other, kick it, then 30 mins later the first one would fire. Mind you every other month he would pay $200 for a service. My argument was. I paid just shy of 400 for a 4 stroke victa a few years back and bar an oil change occasionally it starts first time and is quiet. The ancient 2 strokes require ear muffs. Again, they don't make them like they used to. So recently both old school 2 strokes had, well... strokes, so it was time for a new one. Apparently everything in bunnings it rubbish, because you have a hard time getting a 2 stroke these days, so he ended up buying a second hand 2 stroke from a mower shop who were more then happy to move it. It crapped out in a fortnight, so again another $200 service... well over what a 4 stroke anything with a Briggs and Stratton would cost. The moral of the story is if they're stuck in their ways, don't try to dig them out

Tow his car and put a 120Y, same colour with FPV badges, in its place.

I remember reading an article when FG came out. The motoring journo stated that the Barra 270T was quicker in 4th then the Boss 290 was in 3rd. Let alone F6. You can keep that thought inside your head as you smile and nod..

I worked with a guy that was similar. Didn't know the performance times of any car but still thought that any V8 could beat anything else. You couldn't tell him either just didn't want to hear it.

Sounds like he's just trying to wind you up.. Ignore him, but if he persists tell him you have already raced/beat won. Game over!

No matter your car there is usually something quicker, f6's are great cars but they also are not the fastest vehicles in existence.
I'm actually surprised at how many people are advocates of getting into a chest beating contest with the guy. What could be the best outcome that comes from that?

next time you two leave work and he is waiting behind you, drop a massive burnout. the next day, say something smart like , look so and so , see that smoke yesterday, thats called a burnout, in jest . or you could put prawns in his air vents, is an old favorite.

You said his car is stock then you say it is loud?? A stock car is not loud, so how do you know it's stock?? You may be surprised what is lurking under that bonnet of his. Being older he probably has reasonable disposable income, how do you know there is not a healthy blower or some serious mods hiding under that bonnet bulge.
