The last time I let my significant other drive my car, it was in a huge limestone carpark. Nothing anywhere near, even an asian L plater could of driven safely within the boundaries.

Then she panicked and almost sent my xf fairmont ghia into the Mandurah Estuary.

Never, ever again.... ever.... *Puts the ST's keys in his small desposit safe*

My Dad took me to an industrial estate near his work one weekend to teach me to drive in his ute.
Things were going well for about an hour, until he told me to turn into an empty car park, so I could practice reverse parking between the lines.

Unfortunantly the car park had thick steel around the entry to stop trucks parking in there, and he didn't realise that the tray on the ute, being wider than the cab wouldn't fit through.

Smashed the passenger side mirror, and pushed in the door, as well as knocking the tray out of alignment. He just turned to me, and said, "ok, lets skip that". I was distraught, but he wanted to keep on going with the lesson.

Obviously didn't learn his lesson, as he took me to the same place to teach me to drive a bus. We gave the car park a miss that time.

Nope, mrs backed it out the drive way, and that was enough for her. Now she refuses to move it. She has never been for a drive in it, apart from the 1 occasion she backed it out of the driveway.

My wife uses our BA XR8 6spd. for her daily driver. Does more ks than I do!
She was the one who insisted that our new car had to be a manual. :eclipsee_

Lucky for mr. philstoj the pursuit is manual, so I can't drive it. I have no problem with him driving my ute.

Wife and I interchange cars all the time (all the cars are registered to me .. so technically all mine). I don't worry about her driving them, I just worry about what happens to them where they get parked (eg. shopping centre carpark)
Wifes first car: HT Holden 202, 3-spd manual
Wifes second car: ZB Fairlane V8, auto
.. basically if you can drive/own a pre '70s car (ie. crap brakes, steering, etc), you're pretty right with anything ..

My missus shares a passion for cars so she minda treats it as well as i do.. althou everytime she has taken it to the shops it getsv scratches (well not everytime) but i know she can drive.. she had her old man teach her who used to do off road racing in buggies
I make sure she drives it calm as she is on insurance but premium is sooo high..

***hmmm have to get cheap car for her***

No problems letting the Lovely Liz drive the GT.

I love the look on the face of the WannaBeRevheadsCuzTheirNot's face's when they see a woman driving a V8.
One neanderthal knuckle dragger commented that "Why do ya let the a sheila drive ya GT?"............... I bet he is single

My wife is too scared to drive my cars knowing how much I look after them.
I had a VT wagon lowered nice 19's, she went to the local shops seeing the VT was blocking her car in the driveway.
There I am working on the front garden as she comes back and I notice the back rim is scrapped/gouged right around the whole rim !!!! I'm having convoltions !
My self control was tested to the max but I couldn't contain myself lol, my eldest son ran upstairs going "mum's going to cop it,mum's going to cop it".
I said didn't you hear the friggin scrapping !!
She looks at me like WTF are you on about ?
Look at this I say !
Oh it's only the wheel !
OMG wait till you see the replacement cost on the bank statement then you won't say "it's only a wheel"...haha cop that !

It's the best thing that ever happened, she's too scared and wouldn't dare drive my cars again !!

Mrs Blue Thunder here. The GT is my main ride during the week and I must say love the awesome baby. Like you say about your wife FPV GT being a woman and cruising along the road in a big V8 you do get quite a few looks. Love to see the fella's admiring my beast. Gives me a bit of a chuckle sometimes and makes you feel pretty proud of your car. Come the weekend though, I can't get near the drivers seat and I am not allowed anyway otherwise he cracks and says he never gets to drive the bloody thing. Oh well, suppose I got to give him a turn sometimes. We have this running joke between us. Goes like this. When he goes to take the GT out, I say - Don't you hurt MY GT. He says - WHO'S GT - OUR GT!!!
We are both as fussy about it and both LUV "OUR GT".

My missus is 22, and won't be covered on my XR's insurance for another 3 years. We'll see if she drives the car then.

She panicks a bit when i'm a passanger in her car, but i know that she is actually a good car, if not a little too cautious.

Nic drives the Landrover as much as I do, she drives the copany BA as well, she has driven the ute when she needs to and can drive them all as well as me, the only thing she's nervous about is loaded car trailers.

However, there are probably no women my age on the Coast who wanna drive Fords...

Maybe I should move???

I'd rather not be in the car. Picture it, married, 1 car, I can walk to work, Uni is a 30 minute drive for her. As unfortunate as it is, she must drive the car. I can't afford to have 2 cars either. We tried that a couple of times, but the cost is too high. Aside from knocking the front bar off 3 times cause she parks to close to trees in front of her, she has caused less damage to the car than me. Funny thing is, I don't know how. Oh, she also ripped the plastic stone deflecter out from under the car reversing out of the car at about 40k's an hour. Oh, AND! she was the one driving when the T5 blew up in the EF. That was only cause I didn't have a license though.

The other day (monday arvo this week) after work. She said can i have a go driving your car in the carpark. I said cool no worries. All down hill from there.

She is not a very tall lass. about 4foot9 . Complains ford should make cars so small people can drive them.

Then proceds to Mash the accel pedal thinking she is in the Barina. :

: by this stage we are doing close to 70KPH in a carpark. never again and the next car will be a manual so she doesnt think about asking for a drive.

i let the ex drive the car, she absolutely hammered the hell out of it but i couldnt care less it can be fixed, plus she paid for petrol and she gave me an added incentive to let her keep driving it......

Geez... I'm over protective... I wouldn't even let my MUM drive my car (I bought it off her -- she drove it for about 10 years).
I don't have a spouse, but my last girlfriend drove my car and that was when i found out my car has a rev limiter! Never again.
