That rear looks just like the Aurion.. Or maybe i'm retarded. Don't mind the front, hate the back.

Did anyone see them show the new Mondeo on that Test Drive (Ch9) show?

Looked good but they weren't allowed to take it for a test drive, funnily enough :

Saw a Mondeo yesterday when driving home from work. It looked like it may be the XR5 - but it was over the other side of the road and I didn't get a chance to see the rear.

I did, however, manage to snap some photos on my phone. See attached. Not the best quality, and as I said it was over the other side of the road. So it is a little bit far away.

I like it, I think it will be a success of sorts, in the same way that the focus is. Not setting the scene alight but holding it's own at the same time. I doubt it will steal that many sales from Falcon/ Commodore, at least not after Orion comes out.

As for the XR5 Turbo, I reckon that is what it will be badged, Just because we haven't had 2 different cars with the same XR designation before doesn't mean it won't happen yet, just look at Ghia, goes on everything from Fiesta to Fairlane. XR means it is the sporting version, the number only stands for how many cylinders the car has.

Bring it on, Ford OZ needs to fill as many gaps in their lineup as possible.

Personally I think it looks ugly in that shot. Hopefully it is just that picture.

Probably the colour M14A, too. Not the best colour, I dont think.

yeah should go lineball with the Mazda6, Subura Liberty, Accord Euro, etc which is really what it should be up against, NOT that crappy Korean Epica which if you ask me is just a Sonata with a more attractive (to some) badge.

I saw recently in a European car test, that the new Mondeo 2L TDCI was put up against the Mercedes new C-Class equivelant.

The Mondeo won.

It seems like Australian buyers will be the winners this time round with the new Mondeo.

Ford New Zealand thinks that Kiwi Mondeo buyers don't like cars with luxury specs, so they're just giving us base model and zetec trims instead. No 5cyl turbo, Ghia, XR5, or Titanium models at all.

All they need now is a good double clutch 6 Auto for this and the Focus XR5 and sales should improve drastically.

You're kidding right? :evil3:

That's a shame. Seems weird, we've always had the good Mondeos (ST220 for example) - Maybe the Australians took our quota? Seems very strange.

Not really, we had the ST220's for a limited time and then they were pulled due to lack of sales.... pricing them the same as a XR6 Turbo didn't help :
