While the Ford deal would likely have you in front, just on the face of it the 99c/litre makes it feel like you're getting a real bargain. Seeing morons queue 100 meters deep to save 4c litre with a shopper docket, imagine the wetting that was going on amongst that crowd when they heard about the 99c/litre ploy?

Hate Holden all you want but I think they've got their finger on the pulse on this one.

It was inspired from the Dodge/Chrysler $2.99 per gallon cap that just ended. Although that was for 3 years. Don't know if that makes Holden clever. It's limited to a certain amount of distance per year, so even if fuel did shoot up another $1, they would only lose a couple of grand per car sold, same as a usual discount really (worst case scenario)

Well today, the Local Ford Dealer was offering $2000.00 free fuel with each sale.

“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

This is just a Holden marketing trick.

The 60th Annv Omega was $33,990 drive away last month and now it is
listed at $32,990 plus on road costs (aprox $36,500 drive away) with the 99cent fuel deal.

So if you look at this it was cheaper to buy last month than now with the Fuel deal.

The man in the street will think he is getting fuel for 99 cents but in reality he has paid the extra up front.

Ford really needs Holden's marketing department.

It may have already been said, but what happens if fuel drops below 99c/L
Will the owner have to pay holden the difference?

I don't know personally but i would assume the fine print on the deal makes it null and void if the price paid per litre is below 99c. In other words the deal is not valid in these circumstances of fuel prices we are seeing regularly (in brisbane at least) around the place. If you are paying 95c/l with a shopadocket then basically it just means holden saves some money.

This all just proves that anyone who bought a holden (given most of them aren't very good at the moment) using this 99c fuel offer as a partial justification is a dill. It was never going to save much money and now it sure as hell is even more useless....

Now they will all be running around screaming that the salesman
ripped them off. Now when the had've brought the car if they had
sat down and worked out what that would roughly save them
over 20,000klm and said to the dealer stuff the fuel subsidy and
take that off the price of the car(once rest of deal was worked out),
like any wise consumer would've they wouldn't be in this situation now and would've saved a few extra $$$ plus a crap load of interest off their over
priced new car.
Sucked in for being a moron I say.

They still saved money... just because fuel is 99c there now, doesn't mean they haven't saved anything... plus wasnt it more of a guarantee? If you went out and bought the car just because of the deal you are an idiot, but if you got the deal and you were going to buy the car anyway, then you did ok. It's barely sitting around 99c in Australia too. (whether the deal was there or not, the person buying the car should look for the best deal). Six months ago, in the US, fuel was $4.10 a gallon, and Dodge offered a $2.99 per gallon deal. Fuel is now like $1.30 a gallon. People are not idiots for getting the deal, they are only idiots if that's what persuaded them to buy a new car.

What everybody is saying is most likely correct in some way, but the biggest grinners will be Holden who have sold a load of cars for very little cost.
Thats probably one reason commodore is the biggest selling car in Aus.
