After seeing this post I was going to give in & buy my first Motor mag in 8 years to have a peak, but now that it's been pointed out as BS, Motor will still remain off my magazine list. Cheap attempt to lure people in, can't they find real stories rather than dreaming their own up?

Ahh I am sure you will find many publications (online and print) world wide that do renders of what they believe a future car would look like.
Sometimes (rarely) they are on the mark others it just a guess, to get something from the companies. relax it is just a render it isn't bad publicity. jeez some people are so up tight.

I'm not overly sold on the looks and agree they're highly controversial but I have a very attractive opportunity to get off what I perceive to be a dying brand that I am really sad to say simply doesn't really deserve my loyalty anymore. If a really ardent supporter like me has all but lost the faith I think Ford are in really big trouble with their large cars in Australasia. Really it is a massive mistake for Ford Aust not to have already committed to a 2014 FPV update.
The blank faces when asked about the future of FPV in Australia all but gives the game away that the FPV story is all but already done and dusted. Even in the unlikely event of an updated 2014 FPV its clearly going to be well short on tech compared to both the SRT8 and the VF. Unless there's something I've missed, (which I can't see), I'm ready to pull the pin on FPV ownership.
I am going to buy one of the last model GT’s because it will be my last Falcon. Whether that is 2016, 2015, or 2014 I don’t care provided they give me enough warning.
Anybody expecting a massive investment by Ford into a new GT is nuts. Anything not already signed off has probably been canned. We’ll get a facelift, whatever improved tech they have already developed, and maybe a few revised colours.
And I’ll be grateful. It won’t compete with a HSV, but it will be last in a proud tradition of GT Falcons. If you’re thinking of buying for any other reason, don’t bother.

What is the persistent obsession with a GTHO model????? Is it going to sell more cars for Ford/FPV??

It's pretty amusing though, considering the XR8 next year will be reborn with the same spec engine as the FG GT, could you imagine being a HSV owner forking out all that money on a brand new GTS, then pulling up to the lights next to a FH XR8 and then sitting side by side all the way to 100 and beyond
Even more embarrasing would be the lower spec variants of the VF in HSV's stable getting whopped by a factory XR8.

well as i see it
they are feeling a bit sorry for themselves
spent years saying that ford are closing the doors etc so no one buys the cars the announcement made that its happening journo's feel a bit guilty that they may have had a input into closure (380 anyone) **** better write a nice article (for a change)
ps the history story wasn't to bad

i still think the Vic Govt should reclaim the Geelong plant (from $ already paid)and make it a TAFE

lets hope a GT-HO does get built Ford have already done the proto type for NSW Highway patrol, 400kw at the wheels (apparently)
good intercooler and same speck 450kw ???

or strait from the shelby 500 351 super charged :

Nothing is...well unless they give them away. All about honouring the Falcon and its history while they can. After all the wont be able to do it in 2018 or 2025 or 2050. Its over so make some serious history I say.

Before FPV was placed under the Ford Banner, their was a production ready GTHO. Whether or not prodrive took it, or if Ford have it now, I am not sure, but before all this debacle it was meant to be launched 2nd quarter this year. Lots of things have changed now, so I'm not sure if it will ever see the light of day, (or if Ford still have the vehicle) but surely if the R&D is done, and presuming it is still in their possession, they could release it with the new model, or just name it the final GT for the last hooorah??

I heard it still needed to be crash tested, and Prodrive and Ford were arguing over who should pay for that

It was to be called GT-H, not GTHO. Vermillion Fire was to be available on this model only.

Body strengthening mods were the issue, and who should pay for it to be crash tested, as said above.

I'm not sure. It will need to be crash tested anyway with the new model so that removes that issue, but wether Ford would even bother i'm not sure. With Graziano in charge I don't hold much hope for anything good, bar some limited editions he mentioned, but they very well may be sticker packs so who knows.

If they have it then just release it. What have they got to lose. Its about the only thing left to be excited about with the Falcon now.

Without proper testing they have plenty to lose.
If something isnt correct they will have to have a recall, & that opens the gates for litigation, they wont be doing that.

I do hope the last Falcon [what ever model] is a good car & sells well, as its the last.
I am still wondering why they are dropping the Falcon name plate?
We are still going to be able to buy Fords here for years to come. Ford is not going anywhere, just the car making side. So I think they should have kept the Falcon name alive, in whatever it will be..

Thanks for the clarification, I wasn't aware of the Crash testing etc, I only knew that they had it sitting there.

Or is that at all four wheels....unlike Falcon.

Just a though for the RWD proponents,
The best traction conditions you can ever hope for still leaves a GT with 275 rears wanting for grip.
It would then appear that an AWD platform capable of delivering power to all four wheels at a superior traction advantage.

I'm sceptical about that. FPV's make up too large a portion of Falcon sales to miss the update I think. Plus they give the most value adding of the models.

This.

I've heard the same. XR8 to come back and GT no more ?

I think any notion of a last hurrah GT especially anything with power train updates is wishful thinking and quite unlikely.

Keep GT and send it off with a bang, get rid of the GS and bring back the XR8. I always say in this world there are far too many pen pushers making decisions thinking they know more about the real world than anyone else without ever actually venturing out into it. The decision to can the XR8 and call it a GS is a case in point...

As in rebadged GS -> XR8 ?
To get rid of the remaining power trains ?

No GT possibly means they have run out of money for retooling the body kits etc........and why bother considering Falc development is finsihed. So maybe this is true.

Would be interesting to see the last V8 roll out of FOA being the humble old XR8 then........
