Yea the missus wants the Mustang more then me... before the focus, she has had a WRX and multiple SS (standard and worked), she is missing the power and she has always had a thing for a mustang (she is a bit of rev head), I like the mustang also (I would want a GT500 or whatever the replacement will be called if it comes to OZ).

I am keeping the 300c luxury, as it has all the features and mod cons (don't make me list them out lol) and is super comfy and I personally love the look of it, if we need to transport more then 2 people, it would be in the 300c. by also keeping the 300c, it gives flexibility in the 2nd car, as practicability is covered. probably 85% of the time, each of our cars only have 1 person in them. plus been 6ft 5, the focus is not the most comfortable place for me.

Hell the when the time comes, we might decide on something completely different. but its crossed my mind, what would I go with... I am ford fan, I have always wanted to have a mustang and this will be our first joint car. but again, its the last falcon...

I'll be keeping the Chrysler til the Next Gen Dodge/Chrysler product hits Australia and hopefully a Charger/Challenger will make in it here in RHD officially.. Fingers crossed for next gen Hellcat.

there is no kids or anything in the future, so that's not a factor either... as I said, I could completely go a different direction when the times comes, but reading the new falcon section, I was like, which one will I go??? and also what will everyone else will go as a side thought, and their reasoning behind their decision.

SO the discussion is not just about my situation, but also what is going thru everyone's else mind that regarding probably the same decision, as I am sure I am not the only thinking about it.

so at the moment, its tyre kicking for sure... just thought I would open the floor up for an open discussion on the 2 vehicles.
Drive each first, and the one you feel more comfortable in is the one you should buy. For most, I think that will mean you buy an XR8 as the mustang is so small in comparison, and the yanks build funny looking cars compared to ours (they call them conservative, but I'd say their designers are mostly blind).

The V8 engines in either will put a smile on your dial, but from experience, there is nothing like the sound of that supercharger at WOT! (Just make sure you're in second if you plan to hit 6000rpm - that way you hit the rev limiter before you hit license losing speeds)

Isn't the mustang going from live rear axle to IRS? This would help handling wouldn't it?

If you don't need the practicalities of a sedan, then Mustang for sure.

Reading your comments make me think you just have a problem with an American car coming down under. You said the same thing in another thread claiming Mustang admirers are hating on the Falcon but I'm not seeing it.

So does the mustang, and I'm sure there is a lot more performance credentials in its history then the Falcon.

Agreed, they're both Ford's anyway so how can there be any haters......

I love both but they are two different markets/target audiences.

Kind of, but it shouldn't have been. The Falcon should have become Ford's global sports sedan, like the Dodge Charger (but global). That would go for the same target market as the Mustang, but for those who prefer four doors. It's very difficult to be taken seriously as a sports sedan when you offer too many variations of the same thing, which includes non-sports (base model, taxis, etc). I really believe with an aluminium body and an 8 speed ZF, the Falcon could have gone global if it stuck to XR and GT models. Just my thoughts.

So just brought a little Kia for my wife at the local kia/ford dealer and asked the dealer principle about the replacements for territory as looking at trading our one next year. Was told the edge is on its way.I also asked, whens the mustang coming out and its a shame that ford wont have a "4 door" muscle car.. he said watch this space for a 4 door mustang,as ford are loosing ground in the us against chrysler, mopar etc.. interesting for sure

4 Door mustang is sorta like a 2017 falcon.

If they did that I would put falcon badges on it

Hope the picture works. Its by the guy that did renderings for the 2015 model which has turned out pretty close to the one released by ford. I would be keen for sure..

I've had this same internal debate. I think on balance it has to be the mustang. I don't have any need for 4 doors and I can't think of any facet of the falcon that is better than the mustang.

(My justification is that if you strap a sc to the mustang coyote it is the same).

I think if I went falcon I would be disappointed because the interior would be the same as my old 2008 fg xt and it wouldn't feel like that much of an upgrade.

ummmmm no!! do you really think ford aus just bolted a SC to an engine and called it a day????
you'd be a fool to think that there are no other parts in there

If it's anything to go by, Mustang inquiry & deposits > XR8 inquiry & deposits.

Thinking a face-lifted FG will out-handle the new gen Mustang is a little naive. This isn't the 80's hey.. US automakers have been right up in the pointy end of the handling battles for a few years now. Just have a look at the Nurburgring top lap times...
