Um, USA has been going that way well before we did..... Look at the amount of American manufactured cars are actually bought and driven.

They let their manufacturing side slip just like we did. Just not as bad.

G'day. In this context..Why oh why did I re-visit this thread ?...No disrespect or any the fault of the thread author by the way...As next Friday gets closer it now depresses me more than when I first read it as reality is now genuinely kicking in by seeing that photo..
These two products are something that set us apart from the rest of the world. Both engines are the heart and soul of Ford Falcons and with the I6 especially it means the finality of a great powerplant.
I recently saw a YT overseas feature about the world's greatest inline six cylinder engines..Guess what , the DOHC Barra both the NA and Turbo was rated in amongst BMW , Mercedes, Jaguar etc and other much more expensive ones in a significant market sector world wide..
What a testament to Ford Australia engineers...It saddens me to be reminded of that..Watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txMB_B9qyeU .
Cheers Rod...

Thanks for the link roddy. Yes, our falcons are unique that's for sure. And the 6 cylinder power plant is an amazing engine. I've owned a 250ci pre crossflow, 250ci and 3.3lt crossflow, a tickford enhanced vct 4.0lt and now my ecolpi 4lt straight 6. I've enjoyed them all at the time I had them, and am amazed at how much power this current 6 cylinder lpg powered engine has. I have absolutely no idea what car I'll be buying to replace this fgx when the time comes. Hopefully (touch wood) I won't have to worry about that decision for. Long time.

It is a pity the LPI engine was detuned.

It's a crap world these days...cycles come and cycles go but are we supposed to become third world so they'll build stuff here again? Sometimes it's best to just say nothing. Ford global are producing some of the best vehicles they have EVER made, but our Falcon was ours. And Terri.
I grew up in Geelong as well. Now I'm down the road from you. I have a couple of friends at Holden. We may not love the Lion, but Ford and Holden fans can empathise with each other's plight.

Next week we lose an Australian icon; next year we lose another. No loss is any less sad than the next. Jobs die in Geelong, Melbourne and Adelaide directly, indirectly everywhere else and a massive part of our country's culture will die with it.

Things change, the world changes and evolves. Right now, I'm struggling to reconcile with the fact that this is it - the Falcon will be no more. I don't know what the future holds, but right now it seems bleak. It certainly won't ever be the same.

Cobra it's interesting you saying that. The Internet gives a false picture of the world where it sounds like the blue and red camp are at each other's throats. But some of the best banter I have are with guys I know who've worked at Fishermans Bend or Elizabeth.

No matter which side of the hill their tents are parked our love of the car, our Aussie cars and the country have tied us together. It's a shame those threads that form friendships will be lessened in the future. In an age where so many are more excited about Forza than the reality we need more bonds not less.
