I'm not disputing brake mean effective pressure as a measure of engine efficiency, but his claim appeared to be:
  1. that the WRX engine had a higher torque output than the C 200 engine,
  2. therefore had higher BMEP, and
  3. was therefore more "efficient" (not that he actually explained this chain of reasoning).
Given that the WRX engine runs higher boost pressure and will inject more fuel to produce that greater torque output, it's a meaningless comparison.

It is not possible to defame a company or a product. There may be an action under the tort of injurious falsehood, but that is much harder to prove. I also haven't watched any of his rants in full to see where there may be a cause of action, if any.

Mr Cadogan has in reality been very soft on Ford !

How would you feel if you were the General Manager of MB Australia and see this go to air.

I like the man, just sheer fact and entertainment ( humor ) thrown in.

You really think MB would give a toss? There's a world full of would be if could bes out there who will still buy their product just for the badge image, whilever there is cheap finance available. They know nothing about cars and are led to think they are getting something special when it what they use for taxis over there. Subaru are masters at the perceived quality game and Wheels magazine really trumped up the first Liberty back in the early 90s. Heck, they were always nasty cheap cars with a thrashy boxer no rev engine and no door frames to save money. Now they market themselves as a prestige brand. ****, I'm sounding like mr Cardigan myself.

Ford replaced the timing chain tensioners on my 2003 FPV GTP well outside the 3-year warranty period.

When I took the car to the dealer to listen to it I offered to go 50/50 as it was out of warranty. When the dealer put through the claim Ford said they would pay for it under the following circumstances:

- Known fault
- Car regularly serviced at the selling dealership
- Car well looked after

This is one reason why I stick with Fords and support our local dealer.

There will be those who have had poor experiences but I have never felt that I've been shafted.

Well it may not be "crap" but the fact that he is comparing the Mercedes base model run of the mill POS engine to Subarus "flag Ship" rally bred engine probably is.

He does it all the time, takes the spartan base model Merc, Audi or BMW then compares it to the top of the range Jap or Korean car and declares the Euro a POS. (but they are now on par price wise, that is his excuse.)

It's not a surprise to anyone with half a brain that a Merc is WAY more expensive than a Hyundai if equally specced. But he then sprouts it like he just discovered uranium.

I'm sure if you compare a WRX to an AMG A45, we all know which is the more efficient and technologically advanced car. I know we also all know which is more expensive.

^^^^ Just to add to the above C200 / WRX comparison,

in 2005 ish, my 63 year old father in law, an Audi driver, likely on the notion of "value for money", bought a WRX. Less than the price of a 1.8T Audi A3, he got a 2.0 turbo, with way more power, all wheel drive etc etc.

I drove the Rex a few times and it was fun, but it was a absolute dog in traffic, laggy engine, "on/off" power delivery, whining driveline, rough ride plastic trim.

He lasted 6 months in the WRX before selling it for another Audi.

Yeah, he got "less" for his money with the Audi, but reality is the Audi was far superior in the daily traffic duties than the WRX.

You can't compare a 2005 WRX to other 2005 cars. It is a 90s model really. Only two airbags DIN stereo and 1980s looking under the hood. I looked at a 2005 2.5RS, then I bought a Mazda SP23. Had 6 airbags for a start.

I had to drive a WRX from Artarmon to The Central Coast (NSW) for 2 years, I hated it.

That's true. I take my car to the local Ford dealer and they have be nothing but helpful. They even scratched my car pretty badly during the first 3 month 'check up service'. They admitted it to me and offered to fix it without me asking.
I have spoke to other people and that dealership is the "worst in the world" and always screwing them over.

On the other side some customers are horrible people though and will complain over everything.
I work with a guy who took his Cerato back to Kia because the intermediate wiper fast/slow thing was the opposite to what it is on most other cars.
The dealer was confused and checked a range of cars on the showroom floor and confirmed that Kia just made the switch that way and there was nothing wrong with the switch. He still whinged about it and asked if they could fix it.

I learnt to drive (officially) on cars with either European indicators or normal ones. Pretty basic. Normal means left is up as per turning the wheel. Euro means right is up turning the wheel. Wind screen wipers mean you hit the wrong stalk.

And then there's eurotrash like 7 series BMWs where the wiper arms sweep the wrong way.

How about brake master cylinder/booster on the passenger's side with a linkage going across. Big Money Waster again. Some euro, Renault I think the passenger could work the brake if they put their foot in a certain position.

I wasn't paying attention to that business when I was 16 in a jag or Benz. Who ever thought that a foot handbrake was.a good idea is a fool. The execs who also thought it was a good idea should still be employed at the local servo

I don't mind really. Half the cars I have owned have had the indicators on the left and the other half were on the right. Due to that I can adapt pretty quickly when changing cars. I went 5 years with my personal cars indicators on the left and work car indicators on the right. I only had a few instances of putting the wipers on when wanting to turn.

Do Ford do this ? my Captiva went for a recall, faulty dash clips, holds dash trim near windscreen ,in place. (Wouldnt think this would be a recall?) Day before repair, Holden sms me "Hope all goes well with Techline Repair, tomorrow." Day after, sms , "how did repair go. not satisfied with repair, let us know." Surprised, at attention from Holden....I hope Ford is now doing something similar....

I cant imagine my life ever being sad and boring enough that I would be able to sit through 20 minutes of listening to Cadogan, I just tried 5 minutes and that was painful enough.

He is just a ridiculous foul mouthed fool, I cant quite make out whether he thinks the profanity makes him funny ?

watched 5 min, can't make him out and says he can't 'pull it off'. Even Billy Connolly had a bad 5 minutes, and his critics. I forget what he calls this thing, starts with a 'C'.....oh yes - a ****

Personally I couldn't give a rats if he's funny or not. Some of his stuff is 'shyte' as JC himself would put it, but some of his stuff is great. Either way I'm happy there's someone out there who can rub huge amounts of salt into the open wounds (with lots of profanity) of companies like VW who've put profits before people - JC has nothing on these morally corrupt persons. I'll take my hat off to anyone who will publicly throw the amount of criticism (with profanities) he does at any auto giant who puts profit before the publics safety....not to mention the amount of absolute BS that goes with the morally corrupt agenda. Not only does JC get away with it, he has a massive amount of hits and thousands of 'likes' that would be frustrating to many in the HR world. How he does it isn't gunna please everyone, especially the great Maggie - I'm sure JC and the thousands behind him are devastated at your constant disapproval, absolutely gutted.

Bad humour, profanity etc - couldn't give a rats behind. For the ones who think Hyundai are bank rolling him - you keep tellin yaselves that.

I'll check me line in a few weeks after you've returned (again) to the Cadogan thread Maggie - not sayin you're sad or boring if you do. JC would be impressed.

bull-shyte.... He puts it up on youtube to get views and monetization. He's doing it for publicity and entertainment. It's opinion and it's in the public forum, which makes it fair game for anyone else with an opinion.
