And the bulge is needed for what? look under the hood and its still the stanfard height for the motor. At least Ford build functional mods to their cars rather than the SS side grilles, and the bonnet scoops on the monaro.
Holden means a great deal to the patent office.

Another Holden owner wants to graft the Ford XR8/GT bonnet scoop onto his car
Why don't they just go and buy a Ford which already has the bonnet scoop fitted! FF |

First they pinched the ford 9" diff, then copied the front suspension lower arms & now our bulge...I hope their creative genius’s don’t get paid too much or their brains will hurt. But flattery is the best form of acknowledgement

Even Holden themselves revamping our 70's Bonnet style is something too.
I wonder if the Monaro's bonnet vents are removable like the XA/B/C's are ?

I can honestly say ive never seen a BA/BF with anything off a VY/VZ before, I mean who can blame them? I wouldnt really say the VYs/VZs are the best looking Holden anyway. Thats saying something, coming from a huge Holden fan. |

This is a good mate of mines ute. Yes it's not to everyones tastes, but until you see it in the flesh you don't get to see how good it is. The pictures definiately don't do it any justice at all. Some of the mods on it aren't to my taste but when you see that bulge in your rear view mirror it looks really tough. Most of the mods he does are different because he wants to stand out from the usual commodore ute modders and it sure does. Well that's my opinion on the bulge, i congratulate him on going away from the norm and using an iconic(will be) ford design feature. I respect everyones coments and am not trying to tell people what there tastes should be. This reminds me of people putting 12 slotters on holdens. :

Come on guys, it's not like the bulge actually does anything on the falcon.. So if he wants a bulge, let him have one. We all know he's just stolen it from a falc, what can you do? |

I'm with the minority here, you have to actually see this ute first hand to really see how much time and money has been invested in it... I don't think I've ever been to a show and not seen a crowd around this ute!
It is an extremely nice vehicle and who cares if he's taken a feature from a ford and used it on his ute... it's his ute and its his choice, and in my opinion it looks great. The mags may not be to everyones tastes but I think that they suit the overall style of the ute. and as for the comments of it being 'undriveable' well I can tell you that it gets driven to shows, not traliered. For those that dont understand Airbag Suspension it is controlled by switches in the cab (or on the remote control) and can be raised back up to, and above, the standard ride height of the vehicle. I'm all for the good old Ford V Holden rivalry, but I think once in a while some people should stop being so 'one eyed', open the other one up and you might actually see that there are a lot of nice cars out there that arent Fords. _ |

I just don't see the point of having a ute, and then filling the tray with all that crap so you can't use it as a ute? I mean, how the hell are you supposed to put a couple of bikes in that tray?

I reckon it looks PHAT, that's one nice ute!
I have a vague recollection from a few years back that people started selling these fibreglass Ford bonnet humps for Holden owners with hump envy! After selling my ute, I've just got Ute envy! cya

while the holden looks ok, I don't really like holdens with Ford bits. They use Ford 9" diffs, toploaders, XY/A/B mirrors and get more points at car shows, and their motorsport divison makes a head for V8Superccar that is bascially a copy of a Cleveland, and then some holden supporters get up and say Fords are s$#t!!??? I am a Ford owner/supporter to the core, and I wouldn't respect myself for putting holden bits on my car. I really like the Monaro Bonnet with the flutes, but there's no way in hell I'd have that on my Ford. Just my 2 cents worth.

Ford should have been the ones to bring the scooped bonnet back.
Holden had to fire back with some sort of bonnet mod, cause we got the BULGE

Ironically, I was thinking about putting those Monaro scoops on my EF at one stage. I thought it would suit the lines really well. As for the XR Bonnet Bulge on the ute, it certainly does suit the VY front end, shame the front end doesn't match up with the VT body. I recall Adelaide Special Vehicles doing a bodykit including new bonnet with bulge for the VY Ute not long after the BA XR8 came out. Wasn't bad but it struck me as an attempt at being 'same, but different'.
