The car looks pretty smick as is, go for the Chickens look with the colour coded door handles etc.

Personally I'd uprate the suspension since the Fairlane is a bit on the sloppy side as standard, and/or add LPG (driving them is more fun than just looking and on your wages you can't afford to fill her up too often)

Delete pin strips, colour code door handles, lower slightly, nice set of rims ($1200 17-18"package wit wheels), get car detailed and cut and polished ($200). And stick a cam in her (coupla hundred) that isn't to big for the mods you already have but will compliment better heads and intake for the future. Then diff gears and shift kit.

Then save ya money and down the track blow her or get another windsor and built with all the good stuff. You want to keep it reliable at the moment to remember. Wouldn't go too crazy with the motor for that reason. I kept my fairmont stock with rims and lowered and things like steering wheel and sound just to drive to work everyday, and bought my racer for weekends. If ya buy somethin over 30years old chuck her on club rego, (cheap rego and insurance) and bom up a clevo or 351 windsor stroker or somethin.

what in blazes are you on about?

I put 3 options on a poll and asked peoples opinion. the one that got the most votes I have done. BECAUSE IF YOU BOTHER READING THE DAMN DATE YOU'LL FIND ITS OVER 6 MONTHS OLD. If you cant see the point of the poll nothing I can say is going to help - you have a severe comprehension problem.

secondly. I have a ZC Fairlane 351w as stated by monty in an earlier post (i suppose you cant be bothered reading it).

and for those that requested pics:

Engine bay as it is now

Cam Installation

New Timing set

The results with just the cam

This is the next step, I have purchased a Pro-Products Typhoon intake manifold and some alloy rocker covers. Installing them in the next month or so, whenever i get a free weekend. Hoping for ~150rwkw. when i come across some better heads for the right price Ill do them too.

Spend the money on looks. Is it really all that important trying to have all these go fast bits, when the only place you can use it the track? Having something nice to look at i think is better than getting to the speed limit 1/1000's of a second quicker than a stocker.

well said mate. you have committed yourself to a career and you should be commended for it- not condemmed.

stuff everyone else mate- it's amazing how many financial experts are out there- if these people are going to flame you for being passionate about your car and wanting to improve something that means a great deal and is important to you they should not be on these forums- maybe they should be on a real-estate website or walking somewhere cause they should have had the brains, also, not to put their money into a depreciating asset.

do what you want- 2k isn't going to sink the boat and yes, it could go toward a house but a mortgage (whillst OBVIOUSLY) the smarter choice is a commitment you will find it both hard to sustain on apprentice wages and hard to enjoy the things that make it so great about being young.

Me, I'd make that thing look the part. 2k on appearances will make a bigger difference that you will appreciate more and look after more than 2k that goes into the engine. Let's face it- traffic light duels and the side effects of having more power are probably ANOTHER expense that you don't really need.

It's a beautiful car too mate BTW, you should be proud..... I know what you are going through- I went through the same thing with an apprenticeship that paid $3.43 hour for the first year and so on- now im 25 have 2 houses a T3, a Kluger, a Mrs, a beautiful baby boy, a dog and the satisfaction of knowing I have worked for everything I have achieved. A little discipline is all you need- but it's a sad world we live in if you get flamed for doing what you want to do with your life.

Enjoy your car mate- the experts that tell you to save for a house have their vices too.......
