With all these personalised plates, wouldn't it be great to have "Ford Forums" licence plate surrounds....

My personalised plates first saw light of day in August 1983 on a one day old XE s-pac. Today they are on my XE Ghia.

I had to wait two weeks to get WIZBANG as my plates (what did you guys get ) and I was knocked back on the ones I wanted the 1st time around as they didn't think it was a good idea to have A.RANDEE1 as a plate even if it was going on a panel van .
Plus I here you guys in the east have to pay a fee each year for haveing your plate (is this ture)

How much were they? And aside from their taste, would they have let you have A.RANDEE1 or was it too many characters?

The 9 letter ones are around $450 ,but the 7 letter ones are $360 ,and no it wasn't too many letters ,they said it was too rude and might up set people haveing a plate like that

I've still got my plates ..

.. but the car's be unreg'd for a few years (440ci V8 was too hungry to feed!). I've spoken with VicRoads and supposedly it's OK for me to just keep them? I think I need to check this again though .. or get the Phoenix reg'd again .. or put them on something else.
BTW: Any old car I've had which had it's original B&W (Vic) plates I'd never bother with personalised plates .. but cars like this Phoenix (was a WA car), I'm happy to "be-a-showoff".

Getting ya car damaged or warranting extra attention I think can sometimes be determined by what your plates are trying to say, ie: saw a Porsche or something similar a while ago with the plates "JUST TRY" and saw a new fancy Merc with a young extremely attractive lady driving it with the plates "KEPT"
