As an observation..
This happens not only in car parks, I often free camp in the motorhome in an area of 100's of acres and guess where you think the grey nomad wants to park !!
Seems it must hark back to the wagon trains and free settlers worried about being attacked, I've even seen them arranging their caravans etc into circles in some places.
Now I pull in and wait to see where everyone parks before I move and set up.

Due to recent surgeries I have to open my door fully to get in and out.
I didn't use the end space because it's too awkward getting out with a close side kerb.
What I should have done is used a middle space and then I'd at least have a chance the cretin would have parked on the other side.

Don't you hate that, you're in the middle of nowhere and the griswolds turn up and park next to you. Loud death metal and openly cussing usually scares them off

I have actually done that and it works, having a chain looping out from underneath the rear with a half chewed bone and water bowl works too ! No I don't own a dog.

I was sitting in my work car tapping away on the iPad in a supermarket car park, this middle aged woman flung her door open against mine at full force, it rocked my car, she didn't even flinch and toddled off to do her shopping. I get out to inspect the damage, luckily it hit the plastic door handle and not the body work. There was a passenger still in the woman's car so I gave her the death stare. Some people are above caring about other people's property.

The way I see it we are protecting each other's cars, I know I'm not gonna hit theirs and I presume since they've parked soo are away they are protective of their own. So won't bang mine.
Still got abused one night for parking my fairlane beside a nice old premier. Lol.

Until recently my daily was a wrangler with all the gear on it. Came out of the local IGA just in time to see a nice black audi driver fling their door open into my jeep. Haha, barely even a mark on my steel rock sliders. The audi did not come off so well.

I will say I've been lucky and never had a car keyed, but my pet hate is when people fold your mirror in to get their fat bodies in between you car and theirs. It's not as bad in my ute or sedan but you still have to extend to pop it back out because I don't notice until I'm driving, but it was the worst in my old van that had manual mirrors. Not like old carrolas that had the handle thingy that you'd flip the mirror back out and adjust from inside on the passengers side but physically having to manipulate the mirror back to where you like it. It would take 3 weeks of minor adjustments to get the damn thing back to where I like it every time it got bumped. People can be jerks at times.

Happened to me again yesterday.
An old-ish lady was sitting in the next car as I was parking. Then she opened her door, slammed it into my door as she got out, leant into my window and complimented me on my reverse parking. She didn't even flinch, what a little bastard. That's three in three weeks! I'll be more careful where I park with the new car.

Having trucks makes the parking at Bunnings much tougher so I always use the drive in parking bays even if I'm only buying some marking tape.

Before I did this, I would have car drivers getting out of their cars and banging their heads on my Westcoast mirrors. ouch !

The dream was over for me this arvo. Just noticed the first car door incident on my, beforehand, spottless XR50.
Rear door, right on the top crease and a beauty indeed. Judging by the position and height, child in an suv I reckon.
Oh well it was always meant to be my daily and was bound to happen sooner or later but it still stings a little

I work at a District School and why it's pretty rare that i take my XR6 to work because little tackers will do that and not even know what they've done. School holidays is about the only time it appears at work when there's no kids getting out of cars to worry about . Hope it doesn't drive you to distraction when you see it each day .

They automatically pop out when the door is opened more than 15cm:
