Surprisingly, only once for me (that i can remember anyway). Was when i did my serpentine belt conversion and the fitting on my PS pump was done wrong. I've broken down a few times but nothing that couldn't be fixed on the spot or alternatively i'd leave the car and come back the day later to fix it...

Thankfully, I've never had to have the EB towed home, never had any real problems that left me stranded at all actually. Worst thing that happened to it has been a split bottom radiator hose. Bastard thing was a to change, though.

The two Toyota's in the family, on the other hand, both have had their sorry asses towed home... One '89 4A-C Corolla and one '94 V6 Camry. Aren't Toyota's supposed to be reliable? The Camry did a headgasket that time... hrm...

most toyotas are reliable.....
and it doesnt depend on how their treated!..
our hilux is on a very thrashed 584,000kms, original motor gearbox and diff....

it just gets serviced regularly, tyres thrown at it when it needs them, and thats it

ive never been stranded, the only time my EB has been on a tow truck is when the head gasket blew, and that was part of the mechanics service to get it to his shop. isn't it great when you have mates, so technically no it's never been on a truck

Twice. First when the fuel pump died on me and second when it immobilised itself after disconnecting the battery.

The EA only once that I can remember and that was after an accident. RACV towed it somewhere lol.

I got the EB towed once in the end, it was missing half the front end though.

Had to tow the XD down the street, but we did it with a bit of rope tied to the diff on the AU. Snapped the rope 20 metres from home and pushed it the rest of the way.

wow there seems to be either alot of people who havent had anything bad enough go wrong with thier cars to get towed, or they are lying. me ive had 2 thats because i crashed my car and had to get it towed home, then get it towed again to the mechanics.

Twice. When the ZL fuel pump circuit in the cpu fried and second time was when the number 6 pot filled with water because the head developed a hole in it,I learnt that day you can't compress water.

Not yet... Had the EA for a year & it plays up, but can always driven home or repaired on the side of the road. Driving it to Sydney in 2 weeks so let's hope Murphy's Law doesn't decide to kick in while I'm in the middle of nowhere :

Does it count if you do DIY towing with a donor car and a rope? _2:

The EF has never been on a tow truck ever since our family has had it (8 years)

It once blew up the top radiator hose, in peakhour on Parramatta Rd, Strathfield, right infront of the Holden dealer just over a year ago. Autoone was just down the road so I bought some premix coolant, top radiator hose, adjustable spanner and a screw driver. took the thermostat out, put the new hose on, took the purge hose off, put coolant into her, started her and filled until coolant came out the purge hose, reconnected and filled once more. Drove home fine.

Its true to the saying, id rather push my ford than drive holden.

I thought I'd nearly have to call a tow truck when the EB decided to (finally...) end it's long running argument with the fan belt... :P But my goodness the RACV man is handy with a fan belt. 5 minutes and $20 later and I was on my merry way.
