Had a couple of test drives of a 4 cyl G6 and I reckon it's worth a try. The BA Fairmont is getting traded-in on one, so I'll keep you posted.

Europe has pretty high petrol prices and they don't have a stigma about big car (E class) with small engine. Some of the manufacturers have got some lovely little engines. They can also defray the costs of these engines by slotting them in to smaller (C & B class) cars for a cheaper pocket rocket.
Labelling and stigmatising of P Platers? When I was on my P's it worked well in one respect. You saw an attractive member of the desired gender and if she also had P's then you knew that you were in the same age bracket. If she was in a fancy car then you knew that she was in the same age bracket and had access to money or a crippling loan. mmmm. It became almost a pavlovian response to automatically check out any Celica or Capri (SA30) wearing P plates

Well I was a little blown away the other day.
I had a bloke come in to work (I work for the local Toyota dealer) and he was tossing up between an Aurion Touring Edition and a G6 EcoBoost. Took the Aurion for a test drive, was very pleased, the usual. Then he went and test drove the G6 and said it was finished off a lot better than the Aurion among other things. Said it lacked the outright grunt that the Aurion had (Was good doing 0-60, but struggled a bit pushing from 60-90, but wasn't bad 90-110). Evidently, he bought the G6. Never thought I'd see the day where a Falcon is better finished off than a Toyota. Don't get me wrong, I love my XR6, but it's finished a bit on the average side (seats near collapsed at 65,000km, door spears scratched easy, sills scuffed easy etc etc). Guess this means the FG MkII must have stepped up a bit on the old model, and Ford might be heading back in the right direction with the EcoLPI/EcoBoost
