$5k on car. Roughly $12k on turbo and t56 conversion.

It's a hobby though like someone said above. Doesn't matter what it costs as long as you enjoy it.

Even on a budget its a hobby (you gotta have something to do besides work & home).....

Car $3700
wheels $0 (replaced an axle for a mate and some other minor stuff) gave me the wheels
Audio $110 12" Sub & Amp (second hand)
Bodykit $350 (second hand)
Paint $300 (painted myself)
XR Suspension $0 (given to me cos mate dumped his car)

It's hard to express the car in words.

You get about 10% of the idea off the forums

Maybe 25% by standing next to the car in full flight

75% in the passenger seat.

But its not until you are holding the thick rewrapped Aubergine tiller and feel the response under your right foot..... when you approach a roundabout at 70 clicks and give it a quick blip to 5000rpm while you downshift to first..... then feather the car around the roundabout at a 15 degree angle while the spool and the Kenne Bell work in unison to make it happen.

Then you straighten the car up on the exit, squeeze down 70% throttle and just as you flatshift second you pin your right ankle and its worth every bit of a small outer suburbs apartment.

12000$ for the ute (came with exhaust and lowered, so checked 2 off instantly )

450 for a second set of s2 rims
200 for msd coilpacks
140 for eagle leads
50 for short shift
140 for bosch o2 sensors

stereo from old car - free
and other bits and bobs thats not worth mentioning.

have been VERY tempted to splurge, really wanna SC it.. but i have a commitment to buying a house with the misssus and id feel really guilty spending any more than the 120$ it costs to fill up each week at the moment

Ive actually just been really happy with my purchase price and havent needed to spend much money on this rig in nearly a year.

^^$120 per week on fuel...damn! Im in a bad mood when I have to pay over $40 for my LPG.

Id pay good money to be in you car CAT600...just to witness the gbox..LOL

I haven't kept much of a tally, but the car is not anything special so..

$6300 - car
$3500 - LPG (minus $1500 rebate) $2000
$1500 - Rims and Tyres Package
$200 - ebaichs
$400 - KYB's
$250 - tint
$350 - cat back + tip
$300 - bling

Thats about it...bit under $10k. Im happy with that, I dont think there is anything out there can match the running costs, style and practicality. I still love it, even if I think about buying something else every other day.

Great description Dan. That experience alone makes it all worthwhile in my opinion. Only those who can truly appreciate an experience like that in a car like yours, will understand. Anyone who doesn't can GTFO.

I have learnt quite a bit just reading his build threads. His contributions are often utilised by other members.

Yeah its like automotive porn.

Comments I get are:
"**** Dan, this thing just ******* bends time"
"When I hear a sound like that (gearshift) normally i've broken something and my car starts slowing down"
"You would never want to get out of this"
"How did that not just slide into the bush?"
"Holy *******".... ok that's enough"
"It's like a V8 Supercar with plates"

And most of the time my comments are:
"That was just to heat the tyres a little"
"It costs a lot of money to not break that much s***" (as I point to my trophy shelf)
"Yeah the other ones got more power, but this one knows how to use it"
"Yeah, its alright I guess"
