Yea true. I didnt think of that. None of them were actually speeding, 2/3 of them were causing "deliberate loss of traction"

Its all a load of crap. They are wasting time and money trying to discourage young blokes from speeding. Too many do-gooders with a voice these days...

Nice to see where my contribution to the tax department is going.
That advert is not going to work.

No doubt they had a panel of so called experts of young-male psychology dreaming this one up. Yeah, next time I'm pulling a sweet drift through a deserted country town with a couple of hot chicks (well, maybe only the blond, the other was a horse) watching, I'll think of how they're not impressed and slow down. Consider this ad a success.

although i try not to speed and not to do burnouts. i like to take off fast (yet keeping traction obviously)
not a doubt people look and go. what a tool.
who cares. people do **** like that because it is fun not always because someone is looking.
the add is right in that alot of people dont go hey he must be cool.
but it is still useless.

Holy crap, that youtube one was awesome. we SHOULD air that one. Make it somehow so it can't get banned, turn up the agony sound effects and play it in almost every ad break.
Then it'd work.

P.S. how mad was the woman in the car trying to scream with a cut up throat?!!!
HOW IS THAT ON AIR??!

I agree, I believe that add krt10 posted would be quite effective...sure, It may offend some people, but I believe It would certainly be outweighed by its benefit.

If they wanted to make the ad more effective they should have played Highway to Hell instead of the opera music (same drone as the FPV ad)

not a real good add in my opinion... seeing as thats not really what happens (most of the time)....

this is gunna sound harsh, but people live people die, unfortunatly its part of life, others make mistakes, and if your lucky you will learn from them.

I have to say that european add hits it pretty hard, its a bit overdone with the car flipping, but very effective in my opinion.

though... does the government really think people are going to think about adds they see on TV when they are driving?

just my opinion...

I think the "HOONS" wont think much of it, or they wont understand it. or whats even worse it'll put them in the mood to do it more. That's just my opinion anyway.

So what you are saying is no matter what kids are still going to speed and ignore the law ? or do you think the ad can be improved ? if so how.

In a way i agree with the do gooders comment, the mistake made is not talking to the kids it targets and asking them what would be effective, so here's your chance

And this is partly what they want to achieve from the ad. Create a culture of mimicking the ad and used as part of everyday language.

What freaked me out with this ad is the cars they used in the ad... First being the BAXR6 ( Currently drive Typhoon) and the second a '85 Model red Celica (my second car i purchased) I then proceeded to check inside my undies to make sure it was still there! And started to think... who the hell has been following my life???

In all seriousness, i sometimes hoon BUT i dont do it to show off in front of chicks and mates. I'll pick the right time like when there is no one else within harms way if i was to loose her...

Anyway, have a look at the 36year old ******** who lost control of his BAXR6T ute and went straight thru the brick wall of a house... i dont think he was on his P's. Or maybe he was still on his L's and next contestant on Whacky Drivers...

When are the so called authorities going to learn that we need to provide advanced driver training as compulsory and part of gaining your license. People will always speed and do stupid things at the wrong time. We may as well teach them how to control a vehicle properly and potentially minimise the outcome.

What a load of crap - they were absolutley bagging the hell out of this ad on radio this morning and so they should. Some middle aged, overpaid, shoulder-pad wearing, pony-tailed advertising executive thought this one up with his mate whilst high fiving each other and shouting "BOOYEAH!" - and your tax dollars are paying for it....

By the way my **** must be absolutley tiny if it is proportionate to how much you break the speed limit.

It wouldn't matter what sort of ads were on TV. EVERYONE will still speed and young blokes will still do burnouts etc etc. They can put whatever ads they like on but it wont make any difference.

I do not know a single person that doesn't speed every time they drive a car. Even my 81yo grandmother does.

Unfortunatley we live in a society where the basicis of life are not appreciated, a society in wich you have to experience having nothing before you can appreciate what you have. Lack of education and lack of "appropriate" life experience leading to a lack of "intelegence" is responsible for most of societies problems. I see the root of the speeding problem in the lack of appreciation of an individuals resoponsibility to society, but that statement covers far more then just speeding. I am continually dismayed at the people in this society who seem to believe they have the right to influence the nature of a strangers life. IMO there needs to be more done to change the way people evolve their thought process (not really the place the discuss this fully), not just more fines, more insulting (for several reasons) ads and more societal rejects and no hopers. Retrospective abortion is an option also, but might prove to be less popular at the polls.

ORB.

I agree with your sentiment completey (well apart from the silly abortion comment obviously lol).

That Ad made me want to go get sideways lol and I haven't even done that sort of thing for years.... so I think it fails

By the way I agree with what someone else mentioned they don't actually depict speeding, how strange, the do gooders probably prevent them from showing it as it will encourage speeding blah blah blah.
