Basically its racing for pink slips. Guys build up cars and race them. 3 runs and the winner gets the other car. There are all sorts of stupid rules involved. Its a crap show and not one id pay to watch.
I only know about it from HYBRIDZ where they built up a car and ran it. Watched it on youtube to see how it went.

But to answer your question it would not take off here as we have not got the population to support it.......... Not enough rich car freaks that can afford to loose money like the yanks can

The show I am refering to is not as crusher explained it's up a level from that and quite good. Similar americans to oursleves(their passion for horsepower and presentable rides anyway - hate their louuuud accent but..) taking pride in their projects and some of them are full on, wouldn't you run a couple of 1/4's for the chance at 10k....if you had a 10sec pride of joy

You don't lose money or property - just turn up go as hard as you can (dial in) and go from there - if you win ......you win.

I think anything car orientated in Australia has problems taking off or becoming a reality, networks don't think they will see a return, more people want to watch people singing, dancing or generally acting like tossers. I mean with enough financial backing I think Australia could produce a kick car flick. Even though there are some new car shows in the works. But there are alot of rules and regulations that the US producers don't have to abide by, in terms of what you show people doing in cars on TV, unfortunately we have to many cry babies in this counrty.

yeah I've watched a couple of episodes.
I reckon you'd struggle getting people racing for ownership though. Thats a big bet! Then whats the difference in doing this and getting your car crushed by the blue brigade? :P:P anyhoo, back on topic. I'd love to see it, but there would have to be some serious feasibility studies made prior to production.

would this be the one where they once made up old VW beetle drag cars? Its basically a game show isnt it? it wasnt their car / parts or workshop but the winner kept both cars if they won.
