It goes in behind the guard and after that who knows. It has been like that since new.Not concerned about it too much but would like to know why a hose is just sitting there with an open end like it's meant to be attached to something.

Maybe it connects to the carbon canistor that is in front of the passenger front tyre within the guard ... maybe a breather hose of some sort.

Yeah carbon canister it is.
Just as a side question, what is the go with the donut factory tube hanging off the side of the intake pipe? All the V8's have it, is it necessary?

I remember guess with Lancers having a similar thing ... and I had been told a few things about what it was. One I heard was it held extra air in the intake for initial startup ... not sure if this is the case. And other other was more for noise suppression ... sort of like a muffler in the intake to reduce noise.

Induction noise suppresssion it is. I had a cracked one once and genuine part was $100 but Ford dealership said I could just take it off an plug the hole.

That pipe on mine makes a hissing noise when the car is turned off and you mainly hear it with the bonnet open. I thought it was for the air con. So if it does have a hole is it important to get fixed or is it supposed to hiss on cease of the engine? Im sure only henry ford knows himself(Might be like a secret herb or spice) So all in all my pipe isnt useless as it hissesLOL
Ray It also looks like it gets condensation and does get cold Just had another captain cook. Mine is also in the airbox and the exposed pipe is for AC. Does that mean I have a leak (hiss) or just getting rid of the build up ? Hasnt altered the coolnees of the AC yet though(Sorry not hi-jacking thread) |
