Just wondering if this stuff is just generic or do you have to purchase it form Ford?
Im looking to put it on my front and rear bumpers and along the door moulds like a Ghia. Thanks

Just be weary of the cheap stuff from Autobarn/supercheap as in time the chrome tends to go yellow and fade by the weather.

The Supercheap and Autobarn stuff has changed from what it was.
I've been looking for some for my XR bar but the stuff they now stock is encased in a rubber shell, ie there is a VISIBLE rubber layer on the bottom of the strip. When I had more time than I seem to now have, I looked on ebay and the offering there seemed to be the right product. I've had the original Supercheap product on my Brumby bar for over 3 years and as yet there's no deterioration or discolouring. edit: grammar edit2: when I bought mine it was a 3 metre roll and cost $20 edit3: this is the stuff:- http://tinyurl.com/m9u4sm Last edited by ronwest; 24-08-2009 at 06:04 PM. |

Hi Ron, the 10mm stuff is too wide, that's commonwhore size, you need the 8mm chrome bumper bar mould. I bought mine from the ebay seller below and it's enough to do both front and rear bumpers, without stretching it to much, and there's still about 600mm left over. Very easy to install, even I can do it.
Sometimes it'll go cheap and sometimes the buyers go overboard on the bidding, I was lucky and got mine for $12.68 all up inc postage. Patience is the word as I waited weeks and weeks for it to sell for a low price sleep: Hope this helps.. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FORD-FALCON-B...4.c0.m14.l1262 |

The 10mm definitely fits in the groove on the front bar - I tried a bit that I had left over on the XR bar. I'm happy enough to go either as I hadn't realised that there was a difference in width. Thanks for the info |

Does anyone know if the chrome strips on the AU Fairlanes are wider than the ones on Falcons? Mine seem to be about 12-13mm.

Just as a side note, a lot of the rolls of chrome trim are a backing of plastic with chrome over the top, though not all. However, the trim from Ford should be a chrome backing on clear plastic. This may vary from some models, but the factory trim that I have seen is like this.
