Default Extra wires on negative battery terminal

I just wanted to know what the extra wires on the battery negative battery terminals are for. One is thick and black, the other is thin with a green band along it. They both go to the fuse box in the engine bay.

While I'm asking, does anyone know hoe to take the fuse box (engine) apart so I can have a look inside?

Thanks

If you can't work out how to take it apart then you certainly aren't the person to be looking inside it. Who knows what you might decide to do next?

from memory i think the fuse box in the engine bay has a little tab you push in at the front, tilt it back and unhook the back then lift the lid of.

The two wires are standard. I'll take a picture later on and put it up.

As for taking the fuse box apart, I meant take the fuse holder/tray off of the lower part of the box so I could inspect where the wireing is connected to fuse/relay holders.

If I couldn't figure out how to get the lid off I'd be in real trouble :P
