Default RS pricing

What's with the pricing for the RS?
I've seen up to 71K on carsales....cheapest at 67K
This seems like a big hike compared to UK pricing.....
at current exchange rates....you'll get into an RS in the UK for under Aus$50K.....seems like a chunky mark up...
Under 70K will put you into an brand new FPV F6E..........
Was also thinking what sort of animal you could create if you took a brand new 35K XR5 and dropped 35K worth of mods on it....
Still like the RS....but I think it's over priced

Its the scarcity value of a limited edition car with heaps of horse power that enables them to price it in the $60-70,000 and they will probably sell them all. The Focus RS will be offered for sale with a Manufacturer's List Price of $59,990 then add stamp duty and on roads and dealer delivery.
But 244 KW of power that works is a great opportunity if you can afford it.

Also, the RS' we have been given are decked out. but yeah, you can deck out an XR5 as much as you want, but it will never be a real RS.

1- The Focus RS we are getting have all the fruit
2- An F6E has no where near the pedigree of the RS or the RS name
3- No matter what you do to an XR5 it will be no RS
4- With such limited supply coming to OZ they can command a price like $70k~

5- Where do i get $70k

Id be waiting to see what happens before id rush in and order one, like every special release they only get cheaper the longer you wait and the people who rush in to start with pay top dollar.

Think you might be on the money there......mind you...if they sell them all quickly.....when the MK 3 comes out it might not take so long to get the RS in Oz...

With only 300 or so coming in I don’t think they will get stuck with any, so I can't see the price coming down, in fact might even go the other way.

I've had my name on one at Etheridge for about 6 months but have since passed it up. (I think they have now sold the 3 or so they were being allocated)
$67.5 drive away was just too much for me I'm afraid, plus the loss on the Mondeo by getting out of the lease 2 years early, all up it was just gunna make it to expensive.

At the time I ordered mine we were all thinking they would be on the road for mid to maybe high 50’s and at that price I was prepared to take a 10k hit on the Mondeo but not at 67.5 plus the 10k

Normally id agree with that but in this case we know there is only 300 (I think), although thats alot of people wanting that car at that price. With the local stuff there is an endless supply so its not such a big issue. The last time we saw an RS was in the 80's so its been a while between drinks

And what happens if Ford see how popular the RS really is, they bring out another model in 2011.......... maybe release 1000 to Australia at $50K????? its like anything, it comes back to supply & demand with Ford holding the reigns.......

I think that pretty much sums it all up. But as quoted, the price will certainlly vary due to demand. I'll never be able to afford one, but that is the thing about the RS. To me it's a DREAM car like a Ford GT. You're not suppose to be able to afford it.

I do agree that although 300 is not alot of cars, I don't think there is enough demand for small performance cars in that price bracket so it probably is the right numner to bring over.

Also if there are any differences between the RS and ST in regards to RHD conversion, that may also bump up the price here in OZ.

Without seeing it on the track to provide the proof, I do believe that the RS will thump anything FPV currently have on offer. So if you can afford a F6E, forget it, save a little longer and get the RS.

They can't.

The RS and XR5 are no longer being made.

The 300 odd we get are the end of the supply chain my friend.

Get in early if you want one boys.....if they are all not sold before they arrive, the golf R and Subie sti boys will trade in their old stuff once they SEE the RS. We are hearing rumours the next RS to hit here will be the Fiesta.

Correct. If you want one, go and buy it now. Last delivery is November and that's it for XR5! :(

Hi Guys ,
i have just followed on and off a white rs from Holbrook(Victoria) to Yass .I quickly spoke to the driver it's one of 4 rs's being prepared(broken in) for the media reporters in Sydney.
This one had lovelly black recaro seats
The car had a laptop wired up, as the driver said all cars are sold when i enquied(he was actually from the UK OFFICE).But i recon that's sold to the dealers not puplic.
The car has a real fat backside with those wheel arches (with reverse sensors on the bumper) black tail on the rear window but it really needs blue stripes to break the plain white colour.
SO ANY SYDNEY READERS THEIRS 4 RS'S UP THEIR WRIGHT NOW.( a couple are hulk green)
Sorry no pictures (i was driving)

Would be a sight for sure to see them on the road. I wonder whether the press cars are included as part of the 315.

Guys, just went into a ford dealership and spoke to one of my contacts there. Basically, he informed me that some dealerships are purposely lifting their prices. RRP on these cars are $59,990 plus on the roads (so should be around $66,000 all up). This dealership stuck with the rrp and have sold out all their allocations. The dealerships who have some for sale in excess of 70 grand are seriously smoking the hard stuff.

Sorry, I just can't justify it, even if I could get one.
I have my sights set on an XR5 at half the price.

I wanna run your car. See what the little ***** has in her ;)

Can't wait to see some RS' out on the street. I suspect there will be some large drool puddles within a 10m radius of the car

it wont be anyware near as much as your XR5 george. but i was speaking to the mechanic about lower compression ratio with forged pistons and new rods, also porting the head and getting some SC cams for her.. but will need to see if its worth while without an intercooler....might have to forge up a new intake manifold so that i can get intercooling equiped.

We dont quite get ALL the fruit in the Aussie spec RS, we miss out on the Sat-Nav head unit and a couple of other little bits but nothing that important.

I'd love to get one but $70k+ is just too rich for me (I think it is worth it at that price, just out of my capacity), $55k-ish would be do-able

Hopefully there are a few low k examples in mint condition I can pick up in a couple of years!
