Default HSV to get camaro engine

Just noticed on the front cover of wheels mag today about hsv getting the camaro engine. I thought they used the same ls3 6.2 or are they using the engine from the caddy or the zr1 vette. Couldn't flick through it as it was sealed up with another mag.
Is this a counter attack on our new V8 already ?

Speculation, won't happen until after next facelift at the earliest.

They also wont go from their current 325kw rating to the over 400kw rating of the LSA in one jump either.

There is the Walkinshaw blower option, with warranty. Some HSV dealers offer this to their customers (apparently).

I thought the zr1 used a 6.2 litre supercharged v8 and another version used an N/A 7.0L

They are talking about the LSA - 415kw and 747Nm - from the ZL1 Camaro. It is also fitted to the CTS-V.

The whole article is speculation at best.

ZR1 uses LS9 6.2l supercharged (screw)
LSA 6.2l supercharged (roots)

7.0l was same as used W427

i can see the government pulling up the manufactors of these performance vechile very soon, these games between holden and ford performance are not going to stop, in ten years they will most likely be pushing 600+rwkw stock. i can see it ending very soon !

why? So the government is going to go to Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche and tell them they cannot build a car with x amount of kilowatts too?

If they cars meet all relevant ADR's whats the issue.

they won't be able to do it without banning performance imports as well that would breach free trade agreements we have in place

i think they are less worried about lambo/ferrari owners as there won`t be too many bogans in them doing burnouts in the macca`s /7-11 car parks, the issue to those that make the laws is the the big power falcadores are accessible to most beer swilling, football loving, collingwood supporters(i mean that in the kindest possible way , big power exotics are not usually.

More Holden ****ing from Wheels. By the time this engine arrives, if it does (which in itself is open to wild speculation), the purchase price and running costs of such a car would be so prohibitive it will end up like the W427 - cherished by many: owned by very few (and driven by even less).

10 years ago HSV had 300kw. What are we up to now? 335kw? Not that much increase in my opinion. I don't see power more than doubling in another 10 years.

The GTS back then might have been considered similar to the WD40 now in terms of engine output so in 10 years we will probably have about 375kw maybe 400kw in 'run of the mill' GT's. If there is local manufacture in 10 years.

I didn't deny they are climbing. I don't see that they are climbing at a speed where they are going to be 600+rwkw in ten years. I was just saying the locals were putting out up to 300kw 10 years so I don't see how the power levels now are crazy.

I have a feeling my prediction for 10 years time may be closer than yours but time will tell.

Anyway I will leave it at that.

You have to remember that Holden did a massive jump from 220kw to 300kw with the engine change back in the VT days. All of the engines have been from the same family since then just different capacities. If Holden go a new supercharged unit or 7.0 then we could see a big jump again to a new level.

Yes that is true but the WD40 had 375kw and I didn't here anyone calling to ban them when they were released. I agree with Vibe in that technology has moved on from the 70's. Brakes, tyres and platforms are all more advanced and able to handle these sort of outputs.

This time I am definately

You can always tell it's that time every now and then when petrol prices are starting to get rediculous and oil is peaking in price...Holden (and to a lesser extent, Ford) always choose those times to start spruiking how they're going to be making bigger and bigger V8's...

Speaking of the W427...I remember vividly that a lot of people were awfully ****ed off that Holden was allowed to enter it in the 24 hour "production car" race at Bathurst. I suppose Holden said it was a "production car"..."one" was produced at the time, so that's "production", isn't it...?
