Default Yet another NSW to QLD rego thread.

But this one has a bit of a twist....

My son lives in Qld, I live in NSW and I'm giving him my (unregistered) VW Beetle free, nix, no charge.

Now, when rego is transferred here in NSW I think a transfer fee is payable which is either based on sale price -in this case nothing- or the market value.....

Is this the same in QLD. If so how would you work out a market value for this?......

While the basic Ford Six was code named Barra, the Turbo version clearly deserved its very own moniker – again enter Gordon Barfield.
We asked him if the engine had actually been called “Seagull” and how that came about.
“Actually it was just call “Gull”, because I named it that. Because we knew it was going to poo on everything”.

Market value?
You make it up.... generally if the car is an older one and there isnt a book value just put anything reasonable down.

$500 value wouldnt raise an eyebrow...
They dont ask for receipts, just a written letter stating your giving the car to your son as proof of ownership should be fine.

^^^

Write a reciept for as little as possible as stamp duty in QLD for a 4 pot is 4% of market value. ( a reciept of purchase will be and is considered market value)

Sounds valid to me, so long as they see something in writing, they don't care.

There is no stamp duty in qld for giving a family member a car, just have to fill out a stat dec at transport.

This is correct however I believe that is only applicable if it is a rego transfer where as this will be new registration. I may be wrong but I am sure that is the case.
