Unhappy some weird this falcon

this auction, is it me or is there something weird going on with the roof?
it looks like a Landau roof on a four door sedan that's been converted to two?
it's listed by a dealer and has no background information (no i wasn't wanting to buy it)

Nothing about it makes sense! Even if the roof is out of whack, the actual rear looks odd to.

It's listed as a convertible but can't see how? Wonder if the whole roof comes off?

Item description should be a little more forthcoming with info IMO.

It looks to me as if it's been made into a convertible using a roof from something else. It started out as a coupe but after the roof has been removed the rear boot area has been modified to blend into whatever this roof is from.

Looks like it started out as a coupe, quarters look weird because wheel arches have been rounded off.

Same here mate. Something about it looks wrong, but the car looks so good at the same time.

Simple...it's a removable hard top like a lot of sports cars have had over the years. Looks to be a very high quality job to line everything up so well.
They're a good idea but can be a pain to store when off the car. The first MX5 Mazdas and also the old Triumph Stag before it had them as an option. I know that with the Triumph it was so heavy you needed a steel frame to rest it on at home when leaving it there.

Nah - just took it off when the Stag got home the first time and leaned it up against the side wall of the old shed. It was never put back on!

Yes, if you look at it from a purists pov, its an abomination, bits of everything.
Started as an XB Coupe, Turrent rusted out, and they have either grafted in bits of a ZG rear, or simply customised the existed panels.
Even the turret is possibly a cut-down XB or ZG, or possibly an amalgam with the original.

That said, if somebody HAD to make a convertible from a Coupe, this is a very stylish design.

I don't think it looks too bad, although I'm not a fan of convertibles of any sort...

You'd have no trouble at all finding it in a car-park, the glow from that paint would give it away and you could probably see it from the ISS...at night

Sedan conversion. Look at the shorter doors and the Coke bottle hip line.

All that work and they didn't bother to line up the bonnet or boot lid.

With so much work, seems odd that they couldn't be stuffed to match the wheel arches.

What shorter doors? They are coupe doors, this is a butchered coupe.

I'm not a fan of hacking into a coupe like this, however bad the condition, every thing is possible to rectify.

I can appreciate, though, a lot of hard work has gone into this I suppose.
The listing mentions "engineered" and is a convertible, so I guess the roof is a fabricated removable hard top. I can't see any join at the A pillar where the hardtop would attach to though. Strange..

I suspect the roof may have been made from a Mustang coupe of a similar era ?? maybe ?? The rear section looks familiar..
The car looks good in the photos like most cars do, but I will put money down that it's rough as guts.
