Hey guys...after deciding what cam to upgrade to from a stock cam, id defently recommend the 1636, apprently theres only 2 other people with this profile keith russel sed, wen i went to wade on monday, a guy from south australia and a guy from sydney?.....b4 i continue any further just wanna thank neb for installin this cam in on monday night...we had a troubles, all because wen i poured oil on the cam, it got the plugs wet...DOH
anyways, after goin with nebs bro alex for a 2 hour run in to willy and on the high way , and just random places @ 1/4 throttle, it started to feel alot more responsive on the throttle, it loved to hold gears with power button off, and after running it in (no high rpm) after 2 hours i slowly started giving it off the line to 60km then let go, after roughly 4 hours, i went to niko's joint were he gave me his EBXR map sensor to try , this is wen i gave it sh!t...i took it down the road of BP , (that leads to you yangs) and booted it @ 50 clicks in 1st, it PULLED all the way to 5600rpm and didnt stop, i swear, i was stumped, i usually wait till i feel the car stop pulling but it didnt and it went straight into redline and close to 6000rpm nearly...which i put in 2nd, now no joke b4 i new wat was goin on i look @ the speedo, it was @ 130km in 2nd gear..., 3rd come along and it shot to 160 very quickly were i backed off...now this whole time the car DIDNT stop a torque curve! this profile rocks, i was told it pulls from 1,100rpm to redline..now i will need a new dif.. i have a 2.77 Single spinner...so i dont have the 0-30km pulling i need :( the mods i have with this cam are a K&N pod, pacey's, high flow cat, redback 2.5 inch exhaust n thats it... ill get this cam dialed in asap but atm stock timing and i havent even resetted my ecu yet... i defently recommend this Camshaft -Grechie! |

if you're a fordmods member, and tell them that.
it should be about $120-$130 change over. pretty cheap performance mod add in another $100ish for a vernier gear (optional but highly recommended) and you're set.

Can anyone provide some insight as to the main differences between this one and the 1604? I'm determined to get a cam back in. Luke, is yours still running like ? Or have u rectified the problem?

Sounds awesome. Was looking at 1604, but this is even better. I know very few people have one, but is there any dyno sheets lying around?

a 1604 is .472 ex. and .481 in. anyway... shouldnt be too much difference unless it has more duration. could explain the lumpier idle cause i have a 1604 and its pretty much stock idle... im lookin at an upgrade asap so i might look into this profile.

so how does that work?
You drive up, wait for car to cool down and then do a straight swap? or do I find a spare cam and just give them that and swap?

after runnin around for awhile now with it, this cam now feels like its robbed my low end torque, (maybe its the 2.77 dif or 4 speed auto) but now its not as strong, (cant churp the wheels off the line anymore) , power feels like its being delivered at 40-50km/h in 1st gear, i pulled a pathetic 17.0 1/4 mile, im disgusted at that crap, and a 8.8 too 100km/h using the g tech... i dont know whats wrong anymore...meh till i can afford a dyno tune it will stay the way it is. (i got the timing set to standard)

If these are ok then you need to dial the cam in or get a unichip like me.The ecu may not be coping. My first installation of dev 4 cam gave me 0-100 in 9 seconds even though I had 150rwkws.Was sorted by looking at the above.

I think his setup and unichip will be a winner.Cams throw the tune out the window.Ford never had an ecu for a wade cam or any cam for that matter.A tune will work wonders.

i honestly don't think a chip is the answer to all his questions.
it is quite obvious the 2.77 diff would be killing performance. cam's bring power on later, and a 2.77 diff means you're spending more time in the lower rev range. while a chip would help with power over the whole rev range, a cahnge of diff ratio (3.23 would be a good cost effective upgrade) would see the car getting to its peak power and through it quicker.

The cam he installed is a BABY torque cam. Under 200deg @50 and 490ish lift. If anything it should cause a boost in low end torque.
2.77+4speed is no worse than 2.77+3speed as well.

Diff gears............. and we all know how good 3 speeds go with 2.77's dont we :>:>.
I could not See the tune going that far out of whack with a cam this size. Spend 500+ on a chip That MAY help your low speed pull, or spend 500 on a diff that WILL 100 percent inprove youre low speed acceleration. Ask NEb how good diff gears are. |
