ummm.. well i wouldnt think so i could be wrong but i do know that with subs their sound quality depends on the air quantity in the box itself.
me and a mate had same sub set ups (two 12") his in a proper made ported box and mine in a smaller 'no ported' custom box and sound wise he sounded alot better and punchy! hope i helped somehow - super6

It all depends on the type of subs you have some sound better with ports and some don't it should say on the installation directions. The old Sony xplod subs I had in my old corolla said best sound would be achieved by installing them in a air tight box.

You don't just put some holes in your sub box and expect an improvement in response.
There are heaps of considerations - type and size of box, type number and layout of subs, diameter of port, length of port pipe - that's about all I remember. If you want a ported box, see a professional. Panda

As said before, don't just drill holes in you boxes expecting it to sound louder. Ported boxes need to be tuned properly to get them to work. Often the box size will need to be doubled for a ported design to be effective, and then you will need to work out what size the port needs to be, both diameter and length wise, to get a good sound.
6 x 9's aren't designed to be boxed off at all, they are what you call an infinite baffle driver and work best when they are mounted into your parcel shelf (using the boot as an enclosure). For anyone not game enough to cut there parcel shelf, then the best thing to do is use spacers. Do you have a sub/subs?? Do you plan to get them?? The only time 6x9's should be used is when you don't have a sub. Once you get one, they lose any benefit they had, and you'd be much better off getting a set of 6inch speakers for the back...
