Default 158km from 68 litres

Yeah, as the title suggests.

I've replaced the MAP sensor, but to no avail...

The car runs fine, and goes fine (has troubles with stalling if you start it then let go of the accelerator, you have to hold it at about 1500rpm for a minute or so or it'll just stall, but once it's going it'll idle happily)

All I can think of is a leak somewhere. I haven't noticed anything on my driveway, and losing 40 odd litres of fuel seems a bit accessive, surely it'd make a more apparent leak :\

Any ideas? As you can guess, i'm getting pretty fed up with buying $100+ of fuel each week.

Thanks

might be a pressure leak from somewhere, only happens when the fuel is pumping, any leaks in or around the injectors anywhere....?

I'd suggest you either have a massive flow problem with either the Injectors, considering it stalls (Im guessing as its flooding below 1500 rpm) or the fuel pump maybe?

you need to take it to a fuel injection specialist or ford.

Sound like injectors to me too, MAP or oxygen sensor or a dead other sensor wouldnt stuff AFR's up quite that much.

Have you looked at all the plugs or just 1 ?

Also do an ECU test

a dead MAP will cause this exact problem, however you replaced that so it seems to not be that.

Take your injectors out and get them ultrasonicaly cleaned.

Have you checked to see if you have manifold vaccum at the map sensor?

check your fuel tank for holes!!! LOL, that's shocking!!! A stuffed sensor wouldn't throw it out that much. I'd be checking stuff like split hoses, leaky fuel filter connections, connections to the pressure reg....anywhere where the fuel flows through. Other than that it has to be the injectors. I've got some one ebay, work perfectly for 30 bux if your quick lol ;)

a map sensor not reading manifold vacuum would cause that sort of problem also a stuffed coolant temp sensor could also be worth looking at.

on the subject of coolant temp, is the car running at the correct temperature, if you had a thermostat which is jammed open (or removed), the computer could think the car is cold and be running way too rich.

leaking injectors could be a problem, but you wouldn't expect all injectors to be leaking at the same time and if only 1 or 2 where leaking, only those plugs would be fouled.

Have you checked for codes from the computer?

haven't checked any ecu codes, however i have recently overhauled the cooling system (to an extent), and it is all running fine (temp wise.)

apart from those 20 or so seconds you have to hold the accelerator on to get it to idle, the car runs fine, no lack of power, and (as far as i can tell) isn't blowing too much black smoke.

You'd know if it was leaking fuel in your driveway or wherever you park it. I mean its not easy to miss 40Litres of fuel sitting on the garage floor, so it would have to be burning it off.

By the look of your plugs, cy 4, 5 & 6 is where your burning it off. They're running rich. Take your injectors out and get them ultrasonically cleaned and see how they come up.

Thats all i can suggest, though im new to all this EFI stuff. If my XY was doing it, id pull out the screw driver and adjust the a/f mixture...

Your problem is a faulty fuel regulator or blocked return lines to the fuel tank.I think that you have too high fuel pressure
