Default EA-ED... Whats the difference?

I've been looking at a few different cars lately, and could never really pick the difference between EA-ED cars. So i'm guessing it must be power... please correct me if i'm wrong.

Asking around I can never get a straight answer on what would be 'better'. I personally ED being last of shape might be an improvement.. but thats only guessing..

So in summary.. i need a lesson on EA-EDs!! :

Geeze, stacks of differences but just quickly: noise reduction, stronger bracing for safety, MPFI 148kw standard, updated 4 speed auto or 5 speed manual (no 3 speed), cosmetic updates, better plastics inside, thicker windows, shorter diff ratio with 28 splines, ABS available on later models, much smoother, much quieter, etc etc. Basically six extra years of fine tuning a model..

Check out www.deleted link. A good place for lots of info py:

There's nothing wrong with EA's, i've got both an EA and an EB2 and there really isn't that much differance. The EA is probably just as Quick too. EA has done well over 400,000 ks on the original motor, hasn't blown a headgasket in 9 years and still goes strong, the EB is at 270,000 k's and the motor is pretty worn and blows heaps of smoke.

The way to tell them apart is the rear lights, EA has the reverse light with all the others, EB onwards have the reverse lights next to the number plate. From the front EA's have the Ford badge on the bonnet EB and ED have it in the grill, with the ED having the oval shaped grill.

oh cmon now, there isnt anything wrong with EA's at all!
My EA has been in the family since new, done 250000km's still on its original head gasket and runs really well. EA all through to ED's they are all good cars.

More or less, cosmetic changes and a few tweaks. Cylinder head has smaller water jackets but other than that, not too much? Actually, change the grille and ya have an ED

Also, the rear number plate surround (around the reversing lights) is black on the EB, grey on the ED. Very minor. This is completely different to the EA because of the placement of the reversing lights.
