El Fairmont Ghia interior parts

: Gday all,could anyone tell me of a place or wreckers in the south west of Sydney or close to it where I could get Ghia El interior parts,looked at some wreckers but cant get any so far.

Very rare. I've been looking for a replacement chrome style selector button for the shifter for ages.

I've recently learned that the button can only be separated from the shifter by removing the stitching. With that in mind the gray one for sale here doesn't match my interior. Thanks for the lookout anyway.

The original leather gear knob with the PLASTIC chrome button for the EL Fairmont Ghia from Ford Dealers is in excess of $350, a bit expensive eh?

I thought you dont need to undo the stitching, but make a very small cut in the leather and there is a small screw that is then able to be taken out to swap the button.

that is exactly what has been done to the one we have for sale. there is a small nick so we could acces the small screw and once in the car this cannot be seen. a little bit of glue can be put on to hold it down to avoid further ripping

The buttons are too weak to last. I've tried super-gluing the thing back in but only lasted a few days.

why not just replace the whole knob?

That's exactly what I did when the 2nd leather one broke, but I bought the cheapest one, one from the base model, still the same colour, it still cost $90
