Question windscreen wipers

I have recently purchased a 1993 EB Series 2 falcon Gli sedan with 410.000kms on the clock for $1985 it has ABS brakes, cruise control, electric mirrors, etc, however i was surfing the net for information about the falcon as there are 2 little problems i have yet to sort out, first is the windscreen wipers do not work, i have replaced the fuse numerous times and it blows as soon as i go to switch the wipers on, and secondly the clear plastic dash fascia is cloudy and no amount of cleaning will remove it, it goes away briefly, then clouds up again! any ideas? if anyone out there has experienced similar problems and can offer a solution it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

hmm... there isnt anything on deleted link about either of the two probs he's having Kyle. Go to eseies anyway because there is heaps of great info on other stuff!

But as Kyle said, welcome to FF.au!

Can't help you with your wiper problem, but the clouding on your fascia could be one of many things. If it isn't coming off with cleaning, I imagine that a former owner has got a bit over-zealous with cleaning and used a harsh solvent... thus destroying the surface. This being the case, you will probably need a new one. Should be able to pick one up cheap from your local wreckers.

Cloudy fascia....try some plastic polish, otherwise just replace the cluster.

As for the wiper situation, either the wiper motor is stuffed, or there is a short in the wiring to it. I'd probably start with changing the motor, then looking at the wiring. In fact, if you have a multimeter you could probably check for shorts to ground just by removing the connector.

It does sound like a wiring short as motors generally either work or they don't.

If you don't have any luck with the cluster, it might be a good excuse to put in a higher model one so you can have a tacho.

Unhappy windscreen wipers

i took the advice and went to the wreckers and got another wiper motor for $35 after replacing the motor and putting the car back together, i put a fuse in and turned the wipers on.......and blew a fuse! ARGHHHH! It has to be a short in the wiring somewhere! I might leave this one to the experts as i know sweet F.A. about electrics!

Thanks
