Has anyone ever heard of a transmission filter being sucked in inside the transmission?

Yeah well thats what they reacon that was wrong with my transmission they said they just pulled it out put a new one in and i have had no problems since!

Likely it was blocked, or warped. Not "sucked into" the transmission!

Yes it happens... It doesn't get sucked into the transmission as such but the element sucks up against the housing of the filter case..
good luck to you, I bet you were impressed with such a cheap fix
