Default Best stock exhaust manifold?

Are all the same or do they differ and which one is the best?

Do the BA exhaust manifolds fit the single OHC? If it does this would be the best flowing item wouldnt it?

Pretty sure all the exhaust manifolds on the OHC engines are the same. I believe the BA's have oval shape exhausts ports so i don;t think they will work on an OHC...

EA - AU were the pretty much identical.. the only difference being a couple of mounting lugs are missing from the later ones.

Actually they aren't all the same. EF2/EL Ghias are the worst of the lost, the rest are the same though.

strange that the ef/el ghia were the worst then, with the tickford engine you would have thought they would put the best on.

Or maybe they wanted to keep the power down a few kws

It's because of the extra sound deadening they put in them. Hence the Ghias have 162kw and the XRs have 164.

i thought the difference between XR and Ghia was the cat back, not the manifold?

Same applies to the AU ghias. Something to do with sodium sound deadening in the actual manifold itself.

Whats the most horsepower and 1/4 time people have seen with stock exhaust manifold?

Reason for this is im considering putting a 3.9OHC in my XF and most extractors dont fit and arent needed. 160fwkw is a good enough stepup and 180fwkw would be great with 2.5inch exhaust, cam and holley.

try useing the two back halfs of the manifold and run the extra front eng pipe but you have to block off the join section. a little machining and a good fitting plug will do and you will get away from that stupid little opening just after the front section joins the back, and efectivly you have a set of headers, on the EA-EF you run the front pipe around the steering coupling which you wrap to keep kool. have a look ?? it might suit you and it is as cheap as chips.
