Default eratic idle problems with ef xr8

seem to be having problems with an eratic idle. usualy on deacceleration. has anyone else had this problem before? I have just purchased this vehicle and the other day I ran into one of its past owners who said "its a 5.6" I have thought about stroking it but before I pull it apart how can I tell?

5.6? That sounds like 342 or 347 stroker!

I have no idea about the idle, and you wouldn't really be able to tell physically whether it's a stroker or not without pulling the engine apart, but a dyno run should give a nice fat torque reading that a 5.0 (302) would have difficulty attaining.
