it doesnt matter really if you want a low boost setup or a big boost setup, either one still needs pipe work, cooler, ecu (or extra injectors and microfueler at least) and it still adds up.
could cost you around 4-5k for a low boost setup or 5-8k and beyond for something radical...

Sundeeps car makes 180 rwkw and his turbo setup has cost under 3k including a low km EL motor iirc. So it can be done cheap, I think his runs 8-9 psi.

Where could u buy a simmilar setup to sundeeps car,
i was going to convert to a v8 but it can not be done to ea
without engineer certificate.
The car has had so much done to it in every way that
i would rather keep it & proceed with a turbo.

to have it fully legal you have to get an engineers for the turbo as well....

and it'd be far easier to get a V8 conversion legal to getting a turbo legal.......

When i had the old girl xd 351 i spent $8,000 on the motor
with a used supercharger that was offset as the things
were to high & would hit the bonnet without offset.
Really $2,500 sounds interesting for the money, with a
supercharged donk the take off is instant neck breaking.
I really dont think for $2,500 u could find better value
for money.
I want to hear what they say for there claims if
there is more to it than they say.
You get 12 months warranty.
I really cant wait to see what they say
thanks for your help.

If ya wanna turbo your car properly....it isn't cheap. Its something that i wouldn't get yourself into unless you have some mechanical knowledge and don't mind getting your hands dirty......

You'd want to do engine work as well as exhaust mods, intercooler etc. It's no small commitment.

exhaust, intercooler piping, intercooler, injectors, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, aftermarket ecu, should also factor in an engine rebuild if you want it reliable

You were right u need for starters a aftermarket
computer or chip and cooler for starters & as u
said lots more, i think i will give it a miss as it
is far more invloved with cost, a v8 conversion
with engineer certificate sounds a lot cheaper
& i love the sound of v8, even though the weight
of the motor taken in to consideration would
still make a good cruiser.

IMO a windsor would weight the same or less than a turboed 6, adding in the weight of the turbo, cooler, piping etc....

well, you said you think the v8 would be the way to go, but commented that it'd be a bit heavier than having a 6.

but

the turbo 6 would weigh about the same as the 8, when you factor in all the stuff hanging off it....

So u have converted a ea ? ,to a 5lt do u have to put heavier
v8 springs under front ,or does the bay need to be modified
eg bracing to accomadate 5lt v8.

You'll definitely want V8 spec springs. Truth be told, the easiest thing is having a wrecked V8 parts car handy to steal miscellaneous parts like K frame etc from.

The K frame is just the large metal tubing (roughly in the shape of a K) that is under the engine. It's a bolt-on that is easily changed over. There's nothing too drastic involved in a V8 conversion, just a lot of little things.

As you said Trouty.... "There's nothing too drastic involved in a V8 conversion, just a lot of little things"
This statement could not be more true. There are a hell of a lot of little things that need to be changed over. But again as Trouty said, get a parts car, it really is the easiest way.

I think if you want bang for buck tho, go the 6cyl Turbo.
For say, $4000 you will have a crazy 6cyl EA but for the same money you will have a stock standard EA V8.

When I began planning my build I spoke with some engineers first. They did tell me that it wouldnt be as easy getting a Mod plate for an EA V8 as the EA never came with one. Mind you, it naver came with a turbo either........ The choice is yours.

Id say, go the Turbo 6.

But if you decide on the V8 swap, give me a yell, i'm sure I can give you a few hints with it. Have a read of my "Keeping you posted 5.8L EBII" thread. Its full of info on the V8 swap.

Best of luck!!!

Mike
