Default Now this is what I call drag racing!

I know the great majority of you guys love watching drag racing, but to me its as exciting as watching the cricket, two cars in a straight line, trying over and over again for the sake of a tenth of a second. Boring as bat droppings.

I'm into a different type of drag racing, 4WD mud drag racing! Now that's exciting, all sorts of beasts battling it out in the mud from 1ltr 3cyl suzikis driven by 10 year olds, through to road registered 4WDs and the mega HP monster racers. With the exception of the road registered class, pretty much all of these things have either no exhaust or just straight pipes. So they're loud, and the V8s sound INCREDIBLE! Mostly big blocks and many run either boosted or on methanol, or both.

Out of the 927 photos I shot in the 5 hours I was there (a new record for me!) I cut them back to just 35. All the photos are below.

There was one very interesting beast that especially caught my eye... I dunno what chassis it was on, but it was cut down pretty short. It was running a 454 big block on methanol, over 700hp at the wheels apparently, this thing was FAST, and it covered half the crowd with mud on more than one occasion!

Some nice shots there Alex. I like this sort of motorsport but i much prefer to sit down and have a beer and watch drag racing / burnouts / track racing etc. I still enjoy it.
Nice work

Nice pics Alex, I must admit I hadn't heard of this. I hope it takes place on a private road.

The other day with Mick and Jase, we saw a Hummer driving down near Jolly Rogers. That would have fared OK in this environment.

Those photos should work now. Damn stupid Bigpond, always having dramas with that webspace. And even stupider is bloody lynxwebhosting, 2 months since I signed up and paid for some webspace and they haven't contacted me with anything yet, it's driving me nuts, they don't reply to anything I say!!!

NZ - Check out their website, they go to lots of different locations, the next one is in Kyneton I think. www.a4wdmra.com.au

DUMTEF - It's not the camera but the person behind it! I'm not going to photography college to just have a good camera put in my hand!

It'd have to help though!

On topic: That looks like awesome fun, would be a fun day out... I guess you'd have to make sure you kept your mouth closed if theres mud flicking over you all the time though. :
