Hi fellas - my first post, so please be nice to me. I recently upgraded the old '88 EA falcon to a March '98 EL fairmont Ghia.
Going through all the basic stages of fresh oil, filters etc, but for the life of me I cannot find the auto transmission dipstick !! The old EA had it at the left rear as you looked at the motor, but on this engine there is nothing there. The owners manual does not mention it, except to say that the tranny is sealed for life, and oil changes are made by dropping the pan. Any thoughts please. |

yeah no dipstick on the EL's unfortunately. There is a fill plug on the drivers side of the box.

Jack up the car and at the back rh (drivers Side) of the transmission there is a 16mm oil check plug just above the exhaust on the transmission. that is the check plug, it was put there to stop Dic k heads puting the wrong oil in it and stuffing the transmission, so there is no dip stick and remember no matter how you look at the car the drivers side is the rh side In AU. even when you are standing in front of it.

Thanks for the confirmation people.
Next thing you know they will be sealing the bonnet for "life" and making vehicles disposable after 5 years. : |
