I *thought* she was running a bit rich! As for the rwhp, let's not go there (I've seen some near-stock I6s here with better figures!)... Blue = econ mode Red = power mode My 1st dyno, while she's still stock :p Hopefully the next one is a bit better! -Dave- |

haha reminds me of when I dynoed my EB when it was stock. 66rwkw! A slight improvement to 202rwkw on the same dyno made me smile though.
Its good to have a base figure, good luck with the mods!

Ooh! You've cracked 150rwkw Yagzy!!! Well done
LMAO@66rwkw! Must've been pretty crook at the time mate. Its current rating is damn sweet though, I remember watching you take off damn fast after slowly navigating a roundabout when returning from the GOR cruise. There was no way in hell I was going to keep up! (legal speeds were maintained, but the acceleration looked incredible) OK got to go to work now :( I'll drop in to an exhaust shop on my way in, I might be getting extractors + exhaust this week. w00t -Dave- |

Got mine done in Morwell. That's a fair hike for you though! Just ask Wayne or someone else from Geelong-way mate.

so does it make a difference with the power econ button is on ??
cause if it does, and by the looks of it it does ,it means the dyno run i had would have changed cause i think the left the button on econ :-(

I dont understand the difference between the two lines. Isnt the power button just to hold in gears longer? Did they let the engine warm up before the run? It is almost like they ran it in economy mode when it was cold (runnign rich), and then again in power mode when it warmed up a bit.

omg that worse than my stock six ran with afr 10.0, o well the best bit is when you quite easily hit 200 rwhp and then you can laugh at how it "used" to be

That AF ratio is pretty bad, around 2 points richer than it should be. I would start by checking the oxy sensors, if you get that sorted you will gain 10+rwkw. Beside that, the power is about right for a stock V8, just wait till you get the intake and exhaust done

I'm surprised that the switch changed the results. It looks like both runs were done in 2nd.
Looks like your car has a bit of a problem. How good is the electrical system. Your graph line should look like other 5.0 (refer to Yagz, he'll have a few posted around here) and I would want to fix the faults before upgrading, otherwise they may follow you.

Yes the (stock) exhaust is getting replaced this monday, one thing I forgot to ask was about the oxygen sensors (regarding the pacemaker ph4000 extractors that are part of the package)... I read somewhere that carby cleaner can possibly "fix" them, if they've got a film of fuel on them or something. I take it the same sensors are fitted into the new extractors. I probably should ask the exhaust guy to check the sensors out when refitting, plus get some advice on making sure the sensors don't crap themselves when the new exhaust system is fitted (as I've heard can happen).
Also, I'm picking up Explorer manifolds + 65mm t/b & AU intake pipe from a seller in Melbourne this Saturday ($750). I'm aware that a larger MAF would be good too, but that is also coming soon (a bit of a setback on the seller's behalf, best of luck with getting your problem sorted mate!) Well I reset the computer yesterday, and have found that the rich smell has gone, and my L/100km has dropped to mid 12s instead of around 14. After I got my car serviced, and then I replaced my old (stuffed) air filter with a new one (same as old one), my economy problems set in, as it was running quite well up until then (about a month ago). The engine probably wasn't 100% warm when the economy (blue) run was done, as it had been sitting for about 15 mins after a 30 minute drive. It was running for about 1-2 minutes before its 1st time on the dyno. The power runs (3 runs) were done after 3 economy runs. Yagz, I checked out your "trophy" dyno link in your sig, and can clearly see where mine is dying! Interesting to see that your AFR holds a flat trendline, while mine somehow gets *richer*... Must be a combo of lack of air & not tuned 100%. Hopefully the computer reset might've helped it figure out that it's had a service & has "new everything" in it now The downside to the reset was it's buggered up my climate control again, at anything above 16c, it instantly blasts out hot air. It used to do this, and then one day decided to work properly, and was good for about a year, before stuffing up again when I reset yesterday! Doh! Max power in both lines occurred just after changing into 2nd. : Sorry, I know this post is kind of all over the place! -Dave- |
