Default Pre AU Rim Choices

Well, after getting into a heated argument over the legality of running spacers/adapaters the lovely 19' ROH Vapors I wanted are no longer an option. I am stuck with the limited choice of rims still available in Pre AU offset.

I have narrowed it down to six. In no particular order.

CSA Edge 17'

CSA Gladiator in 17' or 18'

Speedy Longchamp 17'

ROH RT 17'

Speedy Sirocco 17' or 19'

Speedy Graphite 18' or 19'

All these rims are great, I really want a set of ROH Envy's but they just don't have them anymore. Most of the other designs I also like are too small, too big or wrong offset.

Vote even if you don't post.

Cheers,
Michael

Do the Speedy ones come in Pre Au, it's been a while since I looked at a Speedy brochure but all I could find in there was AU/BA rims.

I feel your pain in choosing a rim for an E series. I've got CSA Boss (16") on my wagon and while they don't look too bad, I'm thinking of something new in 17s. I'm not a great fan of any of the rims above but I have seen the Gladiators in 18" on an EL XR8 and it suited the car very nicely.

I'm personally leaning towards the AU III Tickford copies.

No prices yet. I was willing to spend 3000+ on the Vapors. Price doesn't really matter, I need new rims.

I'm leaning towards the graphite as well. apart from on here just now, I've only heard good things about it.

19' isn't too big for an EF thou is it?

Yeah, they too are very nice. There's a pair for sale in the for sale section, but I have to buy new. I have to burn store credit.

I figure the 19 inch wheels I'm running on my EF Gli are illegal so don't really care about the spacers being illegal. Who cares about one more broken law...

Graphites for sure.

But if you're spending that much, I'd look for Simmons FR18/19s with a black centre and polished outter lip Even if they're second-hand. They just scream class.

Just got off the Speedy site - and yes my mind is now changed Graphites are the pick. My local Tyrepower has looked after my car for years now - I'll have to go and put him to the test for prices.

19s aren't too big. I got 18s 'cause a lot of smaller cars wear 16s and 17s now, and I wanted something that looked big but wasn't too expensive with tyres or too bumpy to drive on.

I should say, money is not a problem meaning I have some at the moment for some nice rims. I'm not that rich 4000 just for rims and no tyres! Ouch! Even I have limits

Thanks for that anyway thou, they are nice.

Excuse my manners.. but what's so good about those rims, like what makes them $1000 richer each!

no offence intended

Hey guys,
With reagrds to legalities.. in some states you can only go 2" larger but i know that in vic you can go as many sizes up or down as long as the outside diametre (rolling diametre) changes no more than a set percentage (5% if i remember correctly) so provided your choose the correct size tyre youn can go like heaps.. i have gone 5 inches my self.. and even the vic roads guys commented on how good it looks.. lol.. oh yer.. you have to watch the width of the tyre aswell..

Cheers for the comments,

Nik
