Default Reco'd Auto Box EF

How much would you say is a decent price for a fitted 4 speed reco'd auto for an EF?

I think a good one could cost up to $1000.

What's wrong with yours?

Ef without the stick, had my mechanic check it and even i saw the chards come out of the bottom, apparently the oil was coming from the filter??? not sure of that, but there was def not much oil left in it, parked it on wednesday and then a nice oil slick underneath from the gearbox.

Getting a near new one, reco'd and fitted for $1650, tried lube mobile for a look and they were charging 1990 fitted, as were most other places, so 300 less is good to me

i got an eb xr8 with the 4 speed auto and after mine crack a clutch hub, which in turn just completely internaly tore apart my gear box, took it down to my local trans guy and he rebuild mine for $1100, standard but pretty much new every thing except torque converter which was the only thing left in the trans that was usable, and even tho it was a second hand torque converter i still got 20000kms/1 year warranty with it. i thought that was good cause i was getting quoted 1200 for a second hand one fitted with three months warranty and 2500 for a rebuilt one change over fitted. my advice, shop around but best and cheapest is to get yours redone i think

I always thought a reco box fitted for a EF 6cyl would be around $1,500

Friend just got one for his EL V8 and it cost him $2,500 and yeah he got the 24 month warranty - he wanted a good job so he paid for it.

I have seen an EF 6cyl Auto Box reco 20,000klms ago for sale somewhere recently and I think it was $400 and have seen other low k 2nd hand box's anything for $100 to $300

I bought a 2nd hand EL XR8 BTR for $400 shipped from Sydney off the forums.

If you're going to spend over $2000 on a gearbox rebuild, you can get BTR's rebuilt to handle 6-700bhp with decent reliability for $2500.

Thanks for the feedback, got the job done, runs as smooth as, can now take it on a dyno and see what the output is. no worries now.
