You're all going to hate me for this... I am picking up my set tomorrow lunch, I vought them last Thursday off that old wrecked ST170 off Ebay from a couple of months back! Got the set including tyres for $800, however I had to get 2 new tyres, so all up, $1400 for a full set.
He he he. Getting them fitted sometime next week, just going to give them some loving and clean them up and maybe fix some of the scratches. Can't wait, considering every man, woman and child has MP3's and I just can't stand doing the same mods that everyone else does!!!!

You're looking over $550 per rim brand new from Ford from memory... plus $200 minimum for cheap tyres per rim... so there's about $3k if you go cheap tyres... urgh. My $1,400 isn't looking so bad now!!!
I have 4 ContiSport Contact 2 tyres on mine ($300 fitted each!!!!!), the stock tyres on an ST170 and man do they grip well!! They're also one of the standard XR5 Turbo tyres.

But then again Darren Best fitted MP3's to his ST170 because the ST170 wheels don't provide sufficient air to the brakes!!!! :hihi:

Mine will be the most ST170-like Zetec in the country. 3 door, with ST170 suspension and wheels, indicator lenses, interior door handles AND VDC Advancetrac. Pretty hard to beat, she'll handle just like an ST!! That can only be a good thing.

Yeah that seems to include repair and repainting. I have 3 places lined up for quotes and will let you all know how I go and what it all costs. Have a guttered rim and a couple with some narky scratcheson them that I'd prefer not to leave. Some people just don't deserve alloys!!

I got quoted $420 ea for the new conti's, I was told you cant get the originals anymore they stopped making them not long after the ST170 was released(i researched it yonks ago)... but going by the guys who own XR5's they have conti2's, so dunno!
I must say, I ended up with BS potenza's they are utter crap compared to the conti's... the road noise is almost unbearable and have way less grip. Managed to get 45K from the conti's, thats pretty good for a soft compound tyre! Last edited by XP6; 11-11-2006 at 01:35 AM. |
