Peter,
You have a downright nasty persistent problem. I am sorry that we have at this stage been unable to help you get it sorted. Hang in there, you'll get it sorted, just a matter of time and remaining persistent. GK

i feel for you mate theres nothin worse than prob that you can't fix ,its all trial and error .the downside is it all cost money . i dunno ,maybe take it to a reptuable shop and get them to plug in the old scan tool and see what the sensors are doing and try and get a straight answer. could the throttle body cleaner have damaged your map sensor?

Do not use carb cleaner to clean a throttle body, use throttle body cleaner only. Throttle body's have a factory installed coating(most of them) that will be washed off be with the more caustic carb cleaner, this will/may cause the throttle butterfly(s) to stick most likely causing a rather high idle condition necessitating the purchase of a rather expensive throttle body. Since the early 90's they have come out with throttle body cleaners that WILL NOT hurt the Teflon coating on the throttle body. (DO NOT USE CARBURETOR CLEANER OR THIS "MAY" DESTROY THE TEFLON COATING!) Quote: Thanks for that warning. Here is the product I used. I guess it would be ok, as it's marketed as a Throttle Body and Carby Cleaner, not simply Carby Cleaner. Everyone can check it out and decide for themselves whether it's safe to use or not. http://www.nulon.com.au/products.php?productId=carb400# Here are the directions for use, taken from the website, but I posted them here anyway. Note that if used as per recommendations, it won't do any sensor damage.Directions: It also recommends throttle body cleaning to manuafacturer's specs. See what you think anyway people! The aerosol can in which Nulon Throttle Body and Carby Cleaner is supplied provides full and accurate directions on how to use the product in all of the following applications: 1) Vehicles with Carburettors Carby exterior and linkages Carby throttle and combustion chamber deposits Automatic choke PCV valve 2) Vehicles with Fuel Injection Throttle body Combustion chamber deposits Note 1: When used as per the directions on the can Nulon Throttle Body and Carby Cleaner will not harm oxygen sensors or catalytic converters. Note 2: If sprayed on car paint wash off immediately. This product may cause paint damage. Note 3: Follow vehicle manufacturer's directions when cleaning throttle bodies fitted with electronic throttle control. Important: Do not allow cleaner to contact paint work or plastic Do not puncture, incinerate or store above 50°C Do not place can in direct sunlight or near heat or flame Use product with adequate ventilation – avoid prolonged or repeated breathing of vapours and avoid prolonged or repeated contact with skin or eyes Do not spray in eyes, mouth or on skin If sprayed in eyes flush with water If swallowed do not induce vomiting Keep out of reach of children Cheers all, GK

TMAP Sensor: From the outside & from the inside of the intake.
I have just sprayed the black protusion with throttle body cleaner and taken the car for a 30km drive mixed hwy / suburbia. It has already dropped 1.8 L/100Km and I haven't even reset the ECU yet. Outside of intake Inside of intake |
