Whilst perusing the Nulon site for info I posted before about Throttle Body cleaning, I came across this other product in the Nulon range. It's said to eliminate dash squeaks!
"Automotive Uses: Nulon Ezi-Glide is excellent for lubricating door, bonnet and boot hinges and catches, as well as electric sunroof mechanisms and seat runners. A simple spray allows car windows to slide up and down easily – without staining black window rubbers. It eliminates squeaks in car dashboards and door seals. It also protects and beautifies door seal rubbers." Hmmmmm very interesting. Anyone tried it? I might get some I reckon! http://www.nulon.com.au/products.php?productId=ezi330 Cheers, GK

Sounds like silicon lubricant... The hardest bit of fixing dash squeaks is locating them first.

I don't think it is a silicon based lubricant. Selleys have their version of ezi-glide and its a powdered lubricant - though not like graphite which is dark in colour and is messy. It comes in a green bottle and is kinda cool - We use it for lubricating the runners on the docking saw at bunnings. Give it a go - i think you'll find the selleys version is pretty good stuff.
(not so sure bout dash sqeaks though) heh James |

chances are the squeek will be coming from the pastic strip at the rear on the dash where is meets the windscreen. In my AU i took it out (2 screws and afew clips) and covered the contacting faces it in sticky felt and it stop making noise......maby give that a go.

In my EF, I had a heap of dash squeaks and groans - I took off that section of the dash and tightened all of the bolts that secure the dash to the firewall - every single one was loose! No more squeaks now and about 10 minutes of work! I know it's not an AU, but the concept is the same! |

Undo the screws and remove them so they dont fall down the windscreen air vent. Gently prise the panel up with a flat head screwdriver at one end until it unclips from the dash, continue unclipping the panel moving towards the other side of the car. Once the panel and rubber strip that attatches to it is out, cut the sticky back felt (from spotlight, $2.50 per sheet - you will probably need two sheets) and apply it to the underside of the panel that you removed and also the part that contacts the windscreen. **** the only annoying noise I get from my AU is the door lock rattling, so I just push it down so it locks whilst driving and the rattling goes away!
Problem solved lol!

hilly just wrap some electrical tape around the door lock thing and it wont do it anymore!! it gets a little tighter for a few days till it moulds it self to shape
mine was rattling with the stereo till i did this you just grip it and pull upward to pull it out. the manual says to use multigrips and some cloth to stop it from scratching/marking it ill have to give the panel felting a go for sure!!
