The odometer on the ea we used to have never worked when we bought it, was stuck on 330,000ks lol

It can also be your speedo gear (I have learned this from this forum!).

My speedo was working, then it wasn't... eventually the thing kicked the bucket altogether. Put in another cluster, still didn't work. Speedo gear was changed, now it's all good

It will be the plastic drive gear in the speedo itself. Take the cluster out and pull the vdo speedo unit out. You can see a gear about the size of a 10cent piece, it will be missing a few teeth. Pick one up at an instrument shop for about $5. This happens when you press the reset stick while the car is driving(hence puts pressure on cog and shreds teeth.
