The 4spd auto in my ea fairmont is quite clunky in the 1st to 2nd, and 2nd to 3rd upshifts.
Is there anything I can do to improve this situation? Cars done 350,000kms so cant really complain. |

nothing YOU can do, get it serviced and see what they say, I suspect s5 solenoid needs replacing, get an AU one fitted they are cheaper and better.

What's with the negativity towards EA's Danny.
Mine's done 400,000+ k's on original motor trans & diff, probaly a hell of a lot more reliable then your EF was. And yeah welcome lil. These EA's just keep on going. |

just because it's an EA means squat,,every car gets old and things need replaceing or repairing,,shit i've seem brand new BA's shit the **** out of the box's,,but my 15 year old EA still has the original motor and box,,and the only thing i had done was the s5 and regular services...so get off the "it's an EA" bullshit for f$%k sake.

Haha w00t.
This reminds me of the ford.i8.com days. EA's Rule! Now...... back on topic. lil: I'd check that the tranny has enough fluid first. Make sure when you check it, that you do it when the car is warm and just after you turn it off. Within 10 seconds, according to the Auto dipstick on my 3 speed. |

AU Solenoids are worth around $270 retail from Ford, or $193 with the employee discount, and as far as I know the AU ones need to be modified slighty to fit. Since so many people on here need them, you reckon we can order them in bulk?! LOL

Its not only EA's that have this my EBII 4spd has been a shocker since the day it got put in ...... It had a service before it was installed & has been a nightmare ever since :(
I keep the fluids (and the correct brand too) at the correct levels & it doesnt seem to matter ...... I cant wait to get a manual in her ..... will solve most of my problems :P |
