How much did the new unit cost? Mine is doing this and Ford has quoted $150 plus to fix. Apparently wont cause harm, just annoying!

in the inner guard on the passenger side. mine does it aswell.

is it possible to hook up a filter or something to it, and disconnect the carbon canister or is there a sensor on there. i hate the tick it gets, its a fairly new car and it makes it sound like its got a problem.

Mine doesn't do it.... Yet - touch wood. Although I have heard several make the noise. would irritate the **** out of me. You could always try & insulate it, to reduce the noise?

It is meant to be suspended in mid air by the hoses connected to it. If not the sound of it opening and closing rapidly will travel through the chassis rail or body or whatever it is in contact with.

The ticking that you hear is the "Purge control valve" that sits underneath the front bumper on the passenger side. A new one from Ford will come with all new vacuum lines aswell. Not sure how much the complete package costs as mine was replaced under warranty.

Yeh, wrap a foam sponge and some cable ties, that seems to do the trick!

Went to see my mate at ford and he said that you can either wrap it or live with it but he said it is not a problem with the purge solenoid its just noisy they all do it[bloody emissions] :
